829. A year ago tomorrow, February 29th, 2016, was my husband's funeral. Memories of our 60th Wedding Anniversary, and the recipe to Swedish Pancakes!

A year ago tomorrow was my dear husband  Wayne's funeral.   I decided to post the  entry I wrote on our 60th wedding anniversary, September 24, 2015, with  the recipe for Swedish  Pancakes!   That is a family tradition with us, and all the family know when they come to visit us  we will have it for  at least one breakfast! THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 2015 502. Swedish Pancakes (recipe) for Breakfast for our 60th Wedding Anniversary today! It is right now 6:37 a.m. and I can't sleep.  So much has been going on in my mind about the last 60 years.   When we were married in 1955, life was quite different.  Wayne had returned home from the army, after serving there after his mission to Sweden in 1950-1953.  He had the GI Bill which helped us get through college, and we were both ready to be married.  He had turned 25 years old in the last week, and I was still ...

828. The X-Plan -- Giving your kids a way out -- Excellent ideas for parents and children!

I read this, and it is such a good idea, I wanted to pass it on to you dear friends! X-Plan: Giving your kids a way out (#xplan) FEBRUARY 23, 2017  /  BERT FULKS Friends, as most of you know, I get to spend an hour each week with a group of young people going through addiction recovery.  Yes.  Young people.  I’m talking teenagers who are locked away for at least six months as they learn to overcome their addictions.  I’m always humbled and honored to get this time with these beautiful young souls that have been so incredibly assaulted by a world they have yet to understand.  This also comes with the bittersweet knowledge that these kids still have a fighting chance while several of my friends have already had to bury their own children. Recently I asked these kids a simple question:  “How many of you have found yourself in situations where things started happening that you weren’t comfortable with, but you stuck around, mainly...

827. Some parts of our Life Story Book, Family History and writing your own life story!

Image
Now and then I will put in parts from our Life Story Book.   We took 3 to 4 years to write and have printed our over 600 page book, with over 1000 pictures -- in black and white, as it was too expensive to make the pictures colored.  It was printed in 2006, right after our 50th wedding anniversary.  We did have pictures of our children in color in the front of the book.  I can't seem to take clear pictures!  My hands aren't steady enough. Wayne wrote the following in his section of writing his own life story: No matter what else you are doing, From cradle days through to the end; You are writing your life’s secret story,  Each night sees another page penned. Each month ends a thirty page chapter,  Each year the end of a part; Each morn when you awaken the book opens,  Revealing a page clean and white; What thoughts and what words and what doings Will cover its surface by night?  God leaves that to yo...

826. Great and inspiring thoughts and quotes from Prophets.

I have been collecting these good thoughts for a day when I was busy, and tired!  February 22, 2017 Doing Good SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY Doctrine & Covenants 58:27-28 "Verily I say, men should be anxiously engaged in a good cause, and do many things of their own free will, and bring to pass much righteousness; for the power is in them, wherein they are agents unto themselves. And inasmuch as men do good they shall in nowise lose their reward." QUOTE OF THE DAY George Albert Smith "Brethren and sisters, we ought to be faithful. The land that we live in should be sanctified by our lives of righteousness. . . . All that we need is to repent of our sins, turn from the error of our ways, cleanse our lives of impurity, and then to go about doing good. It does not require that we shall be set apart for that purpose. Every man, woman and child in the Church of Jesus Christ may go about doing good and receive the blessing that r...
