This article, if read and understood, makes so much sense, and has wisdom! The pandemic highlights a logical fallacy that, unless checked, could prove our undoing By  Sharlee Mullins Glenn  · June 23, 2020 The following first appeared in the  Deseret News . We see it everywhere. Either you’re pro-NRA or anti-Second Amendment. If you have compassion for undocumented workers, you don’t uphold the law. Either you want to see Roe v. Wade overturned or you’re a baby-killer. Either you care about people or you care about the economy. These are examples of an unfortunately rampant logical fallacy — the either/or fallacy (sometimes called “false dilemma” or “false dichotomy”). This kind of fallacy builds an argument on the assumption that there are only two options when, in fact, there are several, if not many. This kind of over-simplistic bifurcation is not only misleading, but can be divisive, damaging and downright dangerous. Too often it p...

998. One Prayer That God Never Answers By, Darla Isackson · January 24, 2018, very fascinating wisdom!

This article is totally encouraging and wise!  I really love Darla Isackson's writings.  Elder Jeffrey R. Holland even quoted her in a conference talk!  My dear mother, Ruth Allen Miles, used to say "This too shall change, (or pass away)!"  That applies to both sad and happy times. But new happy times will come also, and it is exciting to see where our lives lead us.   "Life is what happens while you're planning for something else!" This sentence from her article is my theme today: “One prayer God never answers is fo...

Maxwell) Quizzes. I remember having pop quizzes in school. Sometimes, the announcement would bring a shiver through my body. Largely because I knew I wasn’t properly acquainted with the material that would be included in that quiz. Ughh. Other times, it didn’t phase me. I was on top of class teachings and ready to ace that quiz. So it goes in life. Because we are multi-faceted people, with ...

Image
This is a great article for returned missionaries, with ideas on how to make the transition coming home from a mission, and utilize the skills and strengths you made while a missionary.  Also counsel on how to stay strong! How to Help Your  RM  to Adjust to Being Home by Clark and Kathleen Hinckley, Sunny Morton & LDS Living Staff  |  Mormon Life One moment a missionary is fully focused on the needs and concerns of investigators, new converts, and less-active members. They’ve worn a name tag and haven’t been without a companion for the last 18 or 24 months. Their life is so focused on inviting others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel that they cannot imagine doing anything else. The next moment they are sitting in front of the stake president, taking off the tag that has become a symbol of who they are. In the blink of an eye, they are no longer a full-time missionary; they are now a returned m...
