As we strive to ‘hear Him,’ President Eyring says we can take courage from this verse in Helaman by Lindsey Williams  | Aug. 28, 2020 Makes You Think Lesson Helps Editor's note: Our bi-weekly Friday column, “ Found in the footnotes ,” explores some of the footnotes from remarks given by General Authorities and General Officers of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The other day I found myself driving down a road in Salt Lake County. Even though I’ve lived in Utah for nearly eight years, sometimes a landmark still catches my eye, and on this day, suddenly I saw a place where I longed to be. The angel Moroni statue rose up over the horizon, sitting atop the Jordan River Utah Temple. Though I had driven the road I was on many times before, for some reason seeing the iconic statue still took my breath away. And oh, how I wished I could go inside. My heart yearned to be there, and when the abrupt reality of coronavirus o...

1252. 3 reasons Revelation Might Not Come by Lindsey Williams, in LDS Living

Image
This is really a beautiful and thoughtful article.  It goes with Come Follow Me this week, and is very inspirational!  After reading the footnotes to Elder Anderson's talk, I went out and bought the book, "Divine Signatures". 3 reasons revelation might not come by Lindsey Williams  | Jul. 17, 2020 Makes You Think Editor's note: Our bi-weekly Friday column, “ Found in the footnotes ,” explores some of the footnotes from remarks given by General Authorities and General Officers of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. 1223. Sheri Dew: Why Wrestling with Tough Church Questions Is a Good Thing by Sheri Dew, in Meridian Magazine, and my thoughts during this Pandemic!

Image
Dear Readers,  During this pandemic I have read and watched many inspiring stories.  Yesterday I spent almost the entire day reading through several journals I have written since I was 16.  I haven't been an avid journal writer, and while raising 9 children, there were periods of time I didn't write at all.  So I have been able to get a quick view of my life during many busy, happy and sometimes sad years.  I had forgotten many of the problems we faced, and many of my children are now facing as they are raising their own children.   At this time I am 85 and a half years old.  I have 29 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren, with numbers 24 and 25 great grandchildren on the way.  We have experienced most of the problems that come with those numbers and that many lives, and I have seen most types of situations.  In one video I watched this morning, the word "Remember" came up a lot.  I realized that my reading of these past jo...

Are we looking to our Prophet, and the Seers -- the  Quorum of the Twelve Apostles for our direction?  They can see "afar off!" A Seer, in Times When We Struggle to See By  Craig R. Frogley  · April 27, 2020 Sometimes, we learn doctrine while seeking answers to other personal concerns.  As a reader and keeper of records, Limhi just wanted a translation service for the mysterious set of metal plates his people had found.  What happened to the writers, what was their story, their civilization, etc.?  Ammon’s answer included this important doctrinal statement that furnishes us with hope in a world gone seemingly dark, with conspiracy theories blossoming in every corner, some credible, some not. “…a seer is greater than a prophet…a seer is a revelator and a prophet also; and a gift which is greater can no man have, except he should possess the power of God… a seer can know of things which are past, and also of ...
