1240. Rooted Out: An Invitation for Self-Examination By Lynne Perry Christofferson, from Meridian Maggazine

This is a very thoughtful article!  Meridian Magazine has such timely and appropriate articles! "Thank You!"  from me for their great thoughtful articles! Rooted Out: An Invitation for Self-Examination By  Lynne Perry Christofferson  · June 17, 2020 The ugly specter of racism has reared its head in ways that cannot be ignored. Shocking deaths, protests–both peaceful and violent, and countless stories of cruelty and oppression have dominated the news. It takes a significant story to edge a pandemic out of the spotlight. For weeks I have scrolled through scores of social media posts on the subject of racism. Some of them impassioned rants, some attempting to educate the white, privileged population, and others offering constructive ways to show support to Black business owners. I have also spent hours trying to identify what my personal responsibility is in all of this. Though I don’t have all the answers, three separate stories keep floa...

1235. Leave Our Statues Alone By Peter Fagg , in Meridian Magazine. Great article!

I totally agree with this article!  We need to remember actual history, and how it got us to this point in our history! Leave Our Statues Alone By  Peter Fagg  · June 16, 2020 Leave our statues alone!! There I said it. I know many a soul will disagree with me, but before you start sending me hate mail, defriending me or making a voodoo effigy of me, please hear me out. I feel comfortable saying I am not a racist.I was horrified by George Floyd’s death.I agree Black Life’s matter. But…this purging of our history by tearing down statues is misdirected and a classic example of political correctness dragging us down a ridiculous path. First, allow me to take you on a short tour of London and then a quick debriefing. As Ralph Mc Tell wrote,“Let me take you by the hand and lead you through the streets of LondonI’ll show you something to make you change your mind” Venue: Parliament Square Time: The not too distant Future. The tour begins: ...

1229. Come, Follow Me for Individuals and Families: “Have Ye Experienced This Mighty Change in Your Hearts?”, Alma 5-7 By McKay Christensen , in Meridian Magazine

Alma Chapter 5, in the Book of Mormon, has so many questions that it would be good for us to analyze and ask ourselves.  This is a great article! Come, Follow Me for Individuals and Families: “Have Ye Experienced This Mighty Change in Your Hearts?”, Alma 5-7 By  McKay Christensen  · June 2, 2020 Cover image: “Our Advocate”, by Jay Bryant Ward. Have you been guilty of looking at others your own age and thinking, “Surely, I can’t look that old?”  Here’s a story from a good sister on the subject… “I was sitting in the waiting room for my first appointment with a new dentist.  I noticed his DDS diploma, which bore his full name. Suddenly, I remembered a tall, handsome, dark-haired boy with the same name that had been in my high school class some 40-odd years ago.  Could he be the same guy that I had a secret crush on, way back then? “Upon seeing him, however, I quickly discarded any such thought.  This balding, gra...

1221. How is this Crisis Changing You? By Joni Hilton, in Meridian Magazine -- plus the link to my mother's poems -- really great!

This is a great article I got ready over a month ago.  I haven't done a blog for awhile, as I had an operation on my right foot, and have been sitting in my recliner with my foot elevated, and relaxing!  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend over Mother's Day, and remembered your own mother with joy and love.  Usually I write one about my mother, but I'll refer you to the "Labels" and Ruth Allen, as she is my dear departed mother.   But here is the link to one of my all time favorite blogs -- the poems my mother wrote:  First posted on 2/12/14 -- February 12, 2014.  I know you'll like them!  You have to copy and then paste this URL to be able to get it, but it works, and is WORTH IT!    https://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=4231572125755493392#editor/target=post;postID=8897490166267130753;onPublishedMenu=overviewstats;onClosedMenu=overviewstats;postNum=1226;src=postname How is this Crisis Changing You? 1218. Phil Connors, Pandemics and King Benjamin, great blog post by Brad McBride. It really makes you think!

Image
What are we really doing, during this time of the pandemic, and staying home more? Are we trying to improve ourselves, our talents, our thinking of, helping, and cheering others?  This article by Brad McBride is really insightful!  His blog is called "Thus we see".  It is titled:   Phil Connors, Pandemics and King Benjamin by  Brad McBride   |  Posted on  May 3, 2020 Has anybody else had the  Groundhog Day  feeling lately? Everyday seems the same. (For those who haven’t seen the movie, I’m sad for you.) It has truly been a strange time, given the stay-at-home orders, closed businesses, layoffs and many working from home. And, like in the movie, it will eventually end. While the movie  Groundhog Day  is considered a romantic comedy, I look at it with a lot more respect and meaning that most other movies. I find a depth in it that resonates with me spiritually. OK, I’ll help those who haven’t see...
