This is a very good article! What Does it Mean to Be a Witness? By  Daniel C. Peterson  · August 17, 2022 To read more from Daniel, visit his blog:  Sic Et Non . We tend to make more progress, spiritually, in times of stress, sorrow, sadness, opposition, and difficulty than in times of ease.  It’s rather like going to the gym, I suppose; exercise with fifty-pound weights builds more strength than does working out with half-pound weights.  Or, as the great thirteenth-century Muslim poet and mystic Jalal al-Din Rumi put it, “The wound is the place where the Light enters you.” That doesn’t mean that we enjoy it.  And it doesn’t always mean that, while it’s happening to us, we can see good in it.  Sometimes, it’s just horrible. From time to time, I feel moved to post this item, which I first wrote many years ago.  I feel impress...

Years ago my great-great-grandfather Willard Richards picked up a copy of the Book of Mormon for the first time.  He opened it to the center and read a few pages.  He then said: “That book was either written by God or the devil, and I am going to find out who wrote it.”  He read it through twice in the next ten days and then declared: “The devil could not have written in – it must be from God.” [i] To the contrary, some have argued that the Book of Mormon is not an either/or proposition – either the work of God on one hand or the work of t...

1035. DSU and today's hearing! We must speak up when dear friends need our support!

Image
I am reposting a blog I wrote on March 4th, almost 3 months ago.  It has been such an unusual 3 months, with many many comments posted on facebook, etc.  in support and favor of these 3 fine tenured professors with their doctorates.  This morning at 10 a.m. our time, Ken Peterson will be the first to finally receive his long overdue hearing to decide the outcome of the situation. Those who know the situation are praying that the Utah Higher Education board who will be deciding this outcome -- will truly listen to the "fine print", and use wisdom, caution, and compassion! There is a very insightful article on the home page of this URL: www.fulldisclosuredsu.com  -- click on "News" on the top! He explains it very concisely!  I will report later on the outcome today! 1010. "WHEN GOOD MEN DO NOTHING!!" -- We must stand up for those who need support!

As the great parliamentarian Edmund Burke said, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” In  1968  the quotation appeared in the 14th edition of the seminal reference work Bartlett's Familiar Quotations . If you can't read this -- it says "  The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing", by Albert Einstein And:  in Proverbs 29:2 --  When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn. I guess I am a crusader!  I found a side of me in the last 2 days that has really become appalled, and disappointed and wants to speak out!  I plan to go to St. George, my home town, tomorrow and help crusade, protest, or whatever it takes, to help 2 tenured professors who were terminated 2 days ago at Dixie State University!  You can read many comments, on one post about the ...
