Homecoming on 9-11: An Unexpected Missionary Miracle By  Mark Albright  · August 14, 2020 The following is a part of the Missionary Moment series curated by Mark Albright. The morning of 9/11/2001 was an exciting morning for the Rogers household. Our son Allan was coming home from his mission in Taiwan just a little after noon, and we decided that the kids should go to school and we would pick them up a little early and then head to the airport. I had just dropped off Lincoln for early morning seminary at Centennial High School, and was returning home, listening to the news. The last story, just a quick 10 second blurb was about an airplane that apparently had crashed into one of the World Trade Center Towers. The radio newscaster comment, “sounds like something out of a movie” has always stuck in my mind, the way he said it was almost “exciting.” I remember getting home and quickly turning on the news to see if anything was on regarding this p...

This is a most interesting article!  It tells of how some lives are saved, and some lost, both seemingly unrelated.  I have a few stories of my own I'll put in a later post -- where my life was spared in surprising ways. From Meridian Magazine, on Valentine's Day, 2020 Co-workers with Angels: Angelic Involvement in the Lives of Missionaries By  Anne Hinton Pratt  · February 13, 2020 Cover image: “Angel” by Brian Kershisnik. This is the day of the great Gathering of Israel.  The time in earth’s history where more mortals are becoming aware that they can be  co-workers with angels.   It’s a day of angelic presence, direction, and miracles. We have an army of missionaries in the field, as well as those of us who pursue that great work.  Many have reported the manifestation of angels as they gather or are gathered to Israel.  I want to share four of such experiences. Angels Told Him to Listen                                            ...

946. Raising Innocent Children in a Morally Toxic World By Nicholeen Peck · November 15, 2017 -- A MUST READ FOR PARENTS! One of the best articles I've read on this subject!

This is a very perceptive and informative article!   Two years ago today, my husband Wayne was told his esophageal cancer was gone -- (endoscopy)  but he passed away just after 3 more months would pass.  To read about it go to my blog for that day:    https://grandmapalspocket.blogspot.com/2015_11_16_archive.html Raising Innocent Children in a Morally Toxic World By Nicholeen Peck  · November 15, 2017 Sign up for Meridian’s Free Newsletter, please  CLICK HERE In a world full of sexual depravity, diverse addictions, familial dysfunction, lascivious social platforms, manipulative media, and irate people of all ages, is it possible to even hope for our children to have an innocent upbringing? A routine trip through a store like Walmart, for example, can start a child’s brain processing in sexual and dysfunctional directions. What is a parent to do about this problem? How can a family live in the world but not become...

936. Miracles this last weekend, and a most inspirational Sacrament meeting!

Image
On Friday I left with my daughter Anita and her husband Reed Lunnen, to go down to Cedar City and hear her son Ben and his wife Ashlee Lieske in a Choir concert at SUU (Southern Utah University), where they are both music majors. It was really great, and after spending the night with my sister Vina and going to a family baptism and wedding shower, we were headed back to Cedar for Ashlee's Senior Vocal Recital, Saturday at 6 p.m. This is Ashlee and Ben after her recital, which Reed and I missed! This is where the fun began!  (Not really fun!)  We wanted to be there by 5 p.m. to help set up a refreshment table after the recital, which was Ashlee's private recital as she will graduate next Spring, with her Bachelor's degree in Music Education.  Soon after we left St. George on the freeway, we saw a sign that said there would be delays in the traffic about 15 miles up the freeway.  We were hoping that it was an old sign, but sure enough as we got there the traf...

929. Good thoughts, to help us see the good in the world!. From Latter Day Light.

Not minimizing the tragedy in Las Vegas, these beautiful thoughts will lift your day, and help us "see the good in the world", as the motto for BYU-TV. October 3, 2017 Service SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY Doctrine & Covenants 6:33-34 "Fear not to do good, my sons, for whatsoever ye sow, that shall ye also reap; therefore, if ye sow good ye shall also reap good for your reward. Therefore, fear not, little flock; do good; let earth and hell combine against you, for if ye are built upon my rock, they cannot prevail . " QUOTE OF THE DAY Heber J. Grant "One can never tell what will be the result of faithful service rendered, nor do we know when it will come back to us or to those with whom we are associated. The reward may not come at the time, but in dividends later. I believe we will never lose anything in life by giving service, by making sacrifices, and doing the right thing" ( Teachings of Presid...
