890. Why the World Needs Your Personal History By Mariah Proctor · July 27, 2017. A Must Read!

I love this picture of Wayne.  I took it when he was writing about his life for our large life story book which was finished and given to our posterity the year after our Golden Wedding in 2015.   (The Gripsholm was the ship he rode to and from his mission to Sweden in early 1950's.  The little leprechaun Wayne got at a yard sale, and he loved to display it in March, around St. Patrick's Day.)  The picture was taken in the family room of the home in St. George, which I sold and now live in Northern Utah.  I had painted the wall mural you can see behind him.  That home had a lot of memories, but I didn't want to stay in St. George and live alone, away from the majority of my posterity.   It took us about 4 years, and was larger than we imagined when we started.  It includes some stories of some of our ancestors, and a brief history of each of our grown, married children to that point.  We both told about our lives, from childhood, to teen years, courtship, and married l

I found some great ideas that will help you in your families.  Many of these ideas I would have been very glad to have found when I was raising my family.  I always felt I was not organized, (and I wasn't!) and I was trying to read whatever I could to help me take care of my home, and several young children.  The photo below was taken of us, in yellow, and most of our posterity, at our Golden Wedding in 2005. 888. I love this quote from the Prophet Joseph Smith : "You Cannot be too good." Are we truly dedicated?

Dear President Thomas S. Monson is not feeling well enough to go to his office these days.  But he has done so much good in his life, and lifted countless others! July 25, 2017 Faithful to the End SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY Mosiah  5:15 "Therefore, I would that ye should be steadfast and immovable, always abounding in good works, that Christ, the Lord God Omnipotent, may seal you his, that you may be brought to heaven, that ye may have everlasting salvation and eternal life, through the wisdom, and power, and justice, and mercy of him who created all things, in heaven and in earth, who is God above all. Amen." QUOTE OF THE DAY Joseph Smith "You cannot be too good. Patience is heavenly, obedience is noble, forgiveness is merciful, and exaltation is godly; and he that holds out faithful to the end shall in no wise lose his reward. A good man will endure all things to honor Christ, and even dispose of the whole world,

887. Celebrating Pioneer Day, July 24th, I've reposted an entry about my Great Grandfather, Samuel Miles, a 3 time pioneer.

Image
I first shared this on October 10, 2014.  This is a brief history of my great-grandfather, Samuel Miles.  He was in the Mormon Battalion, and a pioneer in 3 different cities during his lifetime.  He had many fascinating experiences.  This entry tells some about him.  You can find more under his name, under "Labels".  Today on July 24th, we talked about pioneer stories, and had a big family dinner, with small great-grandchildren sliding on the back lawn on a plastic water slide, etc.  The pioneers would have been so amazed to see what has become of the heritage they left.  Sadly, too many don't appreciate it! 248. Short History of Samuel Miles, great grandfather, pioneer, Mormon Battalion, Patriarch. Samuel Miles wrote a detailed journal, and I put it in entries # 128, 130, 133, and 134, if you'd like to find them and read them.  They were back in April, 2014.  He lived a fascinating life!                                     SHORT HISTORY OF SAMUEL MILES

886. Where Is the Spirit World and How Can We Feel Those on the Other Side? Pictures of Wayne's ancestors --

This afternoon and evening we have a Family Reunion of my husband Wayne's siblings:  the children of Roy Waldamer and Gladys Tregenna Dayton Eckman.  There are only 2 of their 9 children still with us here -- Ruby, and Joyce Marie.  This morning I have been getting enlarged photos of many of those ancestors ready to display, plus other precious family momentos.  This article in LDS Living goes right along with my thoughts about these dear departed family members.  I'll post just a few of the old photos I have enlarged. Parents of Gladys Tregenna Dayton Maternal grandparents of Roy Waldamer Eckman, came from Sweden Anna Gretha Vallinder, Roy's paternal grandmother, from Sweden Johan Emanuel Ekman, Roy's paternal grandfather, from Sweden Gladys Dayton Eckman Roy Waldamer Eckman Johan Emanuel Eckman, Roy's father -- young.
