Larry Barkdull, the writer of this article, was a speci al friend of mine, in 1989, and 1990.  He then was the publisher of Sonos Music, which sold Latter Day Saint music, and he published 3 Simplified Music Books that I wrote.  He later became so incapacitated by giving one of his kidneys to a son who needed it, that he sold his company to Music Art West, which became Jackman Music.  My music books weren't published again, but a couple or so years ago Jackman Music was sold, and the new owners found a copy of my Simplified Primary book, among their inventory, and republished it again.  He is such a brilliant writer, and I hope you'll enjoy this he wrote as much as I did.  I'll try to publish new additions to this as they come out.  This is the cover of the current copy.  The first one was blue. By Lynne Perry Christofferson  · June 19, 2019 Sign up for Meridian’s Free Newsletter, please  CLICK HERE This article is an excerpt from the author’s book “ Sisters, Arise! “. I’m remembering a summer from my childhood. Each morning, after completing our house and yard chores, my brothers and I played out in the sunshine, enjoying our vacation from school. My mother spent her hours tackling housework and laundry, fulfilling her church assignments, typing dissertations for university students, and feeding her hungry children…But at noon each weekday Mom escaped to the basement—where it was nice and cool—and munched on her sandwich while watching  General Hospital  and  One Life to Live. I often joined Mom in front of our little black and white TV set.  At first I paid little attention to...

I found myself in this situation not long ago, and I'm not sure I answered adequately, but I did state my testimony in our prophets, and the Gospel, and I stand by it! 3 Vital Ways to Handle Difficult Questions About (and Opposition to) the Church by Robert L. Millet, excerpted from "I Will Fear No Evil: How The Lord Sustains Us In Perilous Times"  | Jun. 25, 2018 Mormon Life Comments As we move closer and closer to the end of time, meaning the end of earth’s temporal existence, the forces of evil will be combined against the forces of good, particularly the Church of the Lamb of God. A proclamation issued by the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles in April 1845 includes these words: “As this work progresses in its onward course, and becomes more and more an object of political and religious interest and excitement, no king, ruler, or subject, no community or individual, will stand  neutral . All will at length be influe...

910. Why Opposition Hits with the Most Force When We Are Closest to Greatness and God by Jonathan Decker, on LDS Living

I can relate to this in my life -- and perhaps you readers can also! Why Opposition Hits with the Most Force When We Are Closest to Greatness and God by Jonathan Decker  | Sep. 06, 2017 Makes You Think Comments "The nearer a person approaches the Lord, a greater power will be manifested by the adversary to prevent the accomplishment of His purposes."  —Joseph Smith I've observed a phenomenon in my life and those of my clients. The nearer we get to blessings, the closer we are to achieving our potential, and the more positive influence we have on our fellow beings, it is then that opposition hits us with the most force. If you're feeling slammed by personal weakness, mistakes, temptations, or just life, recognize that the defense always hits hardest when you're near the end zone. It is when you're about to accomplish the most good that the adversary fights you the hardest. Abraham and Moses F...
