817. Written on Feb. 15th, 2016, almost a year ago, about Wayne's health problems. This was in my blog at that time.

A year ago tonight we didn't realize Wayne's days were so short.  Only 8 days left!  I am posting what I wrote last year on February 15th, 2016, at a time Wayne was in the hospital, having gone in early on Valentine's Day with severe bleeding .  My dear husband Wayne, whom I have mentioned often, is now on a feeding tube and can't eat anything more by mouth.  His esophageal cancer is progressing, and he recently had a touch of pneumonia at the bottom of his right lung.  That indicated aspirating from the esophagus, and if he were to continue eating even small amounts, it could cause pneumonia often.  For the last few weeks he had been able to eat only food pureed, or liquified, and only a few bites of each food.  I even had to put Cream of Wheat with milk into a blender, and tapioca with milk into a blender.      This was taken with Wayne, our daughter Angie (Angela) and me, in September 2014, at my 80th birthday party, just after Wayne got out of the hospital f

816. Memories of Florence Hansen, a sculptress, dear friend, and amazing lady!

This dear lady was a very good friend of mine for many years!  She passed away on Friday, Feb. 10th, 2017.  She was so well known for her beautiful small statues, and also some large statues in the "Monument to Women" garden in Nauvoo, Illinois.   When we moved to Sandy, Utah, in 1962, where we lived for 19 years, she was my first Visiting Teaching Companion.  I grew to love her immediately.  When I taught a class for teenagers about genealogy, and their own Family History, her son Chad filled out a Family Group Sheet showing 5 children.  If you notice in the obituary, they were able to raise only this one choice son, the age of my oldest son.  They had 4 babies die right after birth!  I don't know reasons, only that she once told me the reasons were unrelated.  She and her dear husband continued faithful, gentle, and gracious all their lives!
