1007. Memories from 2 years ago, just before my husband Wayne passed away.

I wrote this last night -- Sunday night, so I will leave it as I wrote it ---- Today has been a rather "sentimental" day!  Today I spent part of the day at home going through all the cards, etc., that I received after my husband Wayne passed away almost 2 years ago.   Wayne loved baseball!  And he found this little sign at a yardsale, and got it!  This picture of him was taken when we went on a cruise with people from my high school class, around 2005. Just 2 years ago today (written Sunday the 18th) we made the decision to start on Hospice.  It was a Thursday, and they came on Friday with a wheelchair and a walker.  Up until then he hadn't used them.  He was on dialysis, and a feeding tube, and quite weak.  But he still managed to dress himself most of the time, and get around in our house, without complaining.   Two years ago tonight, (a Thursday Feb. 18th) our daughters Delsy and Anita and I played games with Wayn...

878. A beautiful letter my husband Wayne received from his friend who was in Korea in the war, in 1952.

Today, I am sending a letter back to a dear friend of Wayne's that he had written to Wayne while he was in the Korean war and Wayne was on his mission in Sweden.  This friend was my dear husband Wayne's best friend from high school to the end of his life, along with his twin brother Blaine.  When Wayne was able to go on a mission to Sweden from 1950 to 1953, Arlen, his friend, had to go into the army and he served in Korea.  At that time only 2 young men could go from each ward to serve a mission.  All the rest were drafted.  The photo below is of Blaine, left, Arlen, and Wayne.   They played baseball and other sports together as young teenagers, and were friends forever. Since I have moved up to West Bountiful to live with our son Wayne and his wife, Julie, I have been going through many papers, etc., that I brought with me, but hadn't really gone through.  One box included the letters which Wayne's parents had sent to him while he was on hi...

817. Written on Feb. 15th, 2016, almost a year ago, about Wayne's health problems. This was in my blog at that time.

A year ago tonight we didn't realize Wayne's days were so short.  Only 8 days left!  I am posting what I wrote last year on February 15th, 2016, at a time Wayne was in the hospital, having gone in early on Valentine's Day with severe bleeding .  My dear husband Wayne, whom I have mentioned often, is now on a feeding tube and can't eat anything more by mouth.  His esophageal cancer is progressing, and he recently had a touch of pneumonia at the bottom of his right lung.  That indicated aspirating from the esophagus, and if he were to continue eating even small amounts, it could cause pneumonia often.  For the last few weeks he had been able to eat only food pureed, or liquified, and only a few bites of each food.  I even had to put Cream of Wheat with milk into a blender, and tapioca with milk into a blender.      This was taken with Wayne, our daughter Angie (Angela) and me, in September 2014, at my 80th birthday party, just afte...

608. Jesus Christ' Resurrection. "He is known by oh so many names, but He's not forgotten yours!" from "The Garden"

Happy Easter, all you dear friends all over the world.   I haven't written for a week, and I want to write some of my thoughts today.   Yesterday my daughter Anita, and I went to a local performance of "The Garden", by Micheal McLean and Bryce Neubert.  It brought tears to my eyes.  It is such beautiful music written about Jesus Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane.  The line I like the best is "He is known by oh so many names.  But He's not forgotten yours!"  That really touched my heart.  If you have time, I'm sure many of the beautiful songs from "The Garden" are on you tube.  You could listen to them! This beautiful painting was by Minerva Teichert, Jesus and the black sheep. Five weeks ago early this morning my dear husband passed away, and I imagine by now has met our Savior, and felt His love.  I felt His love in that beautiful performance.  I haven't been able to actually cry much since Wayne passed away.  ...
