This article I saved from last Monday is truly inspiring and helpful! A Step-by-Step Guide to Help Make Home-Centered Church Easier During the Coronavirus By  Book of Mormon Central  · March 16, 2020 View the article  on Book of Mormon Central . Because The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has  temporarily suspended all church meetings , we would love to offer a few suggestions on how you can better worship as individuals and families at home. We are grateful to have a prophet of God on the earth today to lead, guide, and prepare disciples of Jesus Christ. In the  October 2018 General Conference , President Nelson prophetically announced “For many years, Church leaders have been working on an integrated curriculum to strengthen families and individuals through a  home-centered  and  Church-supported  plan to learn doctrine, strengthen faith, and foster greater personal worship.” The call for home...

576. Quitting the Mormon Church--A letter to the editor, in a Provo, Utah, newspaper. Great article! ! !

Image
I found this on Facebook, and it is well worth reading!  Great thoughts on why we DON'T QUIT the Mormon  Church! -- The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints --  Perhaps this beautiful new Temple in Provo, about to be dedicated, is making some people nervous.  It has been reconstructed in the shell of a Stake Center; the beautiful building which burned from the inside awhile ago. Dustin Lee Burnham  (posted by him I think) August 18, 2015  ·  Quitting the Mormon Church In a local newspaper in Provo (Utah), there had been an ongoing series of articles written by individuals who wanted to persuade, mem bers of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, commonly known as, the “Mormon Church” to leave the Church. In response to the highly critical and spirited remarks, a local member wrote this rebuttal: Editor: I have been thinking of quitting the Mormon Church. Yes, if I can, I am going to get even with that...

421. Summer reading ? 10 of the most popular LDS books ever written.

Image
I found this on Meridian Magazine, and thought that these books are so great, I want to post them.  At one time we have had almost all of them, but I want to check through my books, and perhaps add any not there. 10 influential LDS books summarized in one sentence each May 22nd, 2015 | With hundreds of new books published each year by LDS authors, it’s impossible to keep up with the best in LDS writing. So we’ll make it easy on you: Here are 10 of the most popular LDS books ever, summarized in just a sentence each. 1.  Jesus the Christ , by  James E. Talmage (1915) A classic text on the life and ministry of the Savior, “Jesus the Christ” is a doctrinal study that was commissioned by the first presidency and written by Talmage in a council room in the Salt Lake Temple. 2.  Believing Christ , by Stephen E. Robinson (1992) Featuring the central doctrines of mercy, justice and salvation by grace — the real “good news” of the gospel — “Belie...

335. Beautiful article by Brent L. Top, about our Premortal Life, and gives much to think about!

Image
This is a beautiful article by Brent L. Top, which came from his book "The Life Before".  It came from LDS Living. 9 Things You Have Forgotten About Your Premortal Life BRENT L. TOP - - The restored gospel reveals many truths about what came before our life on earth. Here are a few insights into what you already knew about the pre-existence but forgot along the way. For insights into what comes after this life,  click here. In virtually all of us, there is some sort of innate yearning to know what was before this life and how it affects us here. Fortunately though, for Latter-day Saints, we need no special revelation to tell us we had a life before. Such revelation exists.  Latter-day scriptures and prophetic teachings not only confirm our intimations but also paint a clear picture of just who we are, where we came from, and why we are here. Without this modern revelation we could only guess at what it all means, but with it, the scriptures unveil someth...

327. Seven important things you should study in addition to the Scriptures!

Image
I found this on LDS Living, and it is very good! 7 Important Things You Should Study in Addition to the Scriptures GREG TRIMBLE - DECEMBER 27, 2014 Want to start the New Year right by learning more about the Gospel? Check out Elder McConkie's list of important Church materials that can enhance your study. Not too long ago, there was an apostle by the name of Bruce R. McConkie who gave us some of the most doctrinally rich sermons we have in the Church. Some of you might remember him! He was known for his thorough research, dry humor, and bold style of speaking. While his primary focus was always the scriptures, he had a little advice for us when choosing other "works" to study in our quest to improve our gospel understanding. Here are  McConkie’s five suggestions  of the most important things that we should study (other than the scriptures), plus two additions of my own. I'm including the following as it gives places where those 5 can be found.  A...

216. Elder Bednar's talk about using social media! My upcoming operation!

I HOPE YOU ARE USING THE "TRANSLATE" OPTION IF YOU READ A DIFFERENT LANGUAGE!  iT IS ON THE LEFT SIDE UNDER "POPULAR POSTS" It is now Saturday evening August 23, 2014, here in St. George, Utah.  On Monday morning, August 25th, day after tomorrow, I will be having a rotator cuff shoulder operation.  A tendon in my right shoulder has completely broken off from my shoulder bone, and the surgery will repair it.  I appreciate all who have been reading my blogs, and I have collected a few really good articles that hopefully you will enjoy.  I will be putting them on every day or two during my recovery, and now and then I'll tell how I'm doing.  I'm so grateful for modern medicine and surgical techniques.  I often wonder what pioneers were able to do with a problem like this.  I have been told that it won't heal itself, and I had a choice -- to just live with it, and it probably will continue to get worse, or to have the surgery.  Pioneers didn't...
