This article is very timely at this time, and probably in the future!  Our prophets have warned us to have a food supply, and other necessities! Coronavirus: As the Threat Grows, It’s Time to Prepare By  Carolyn Nicolaysen  · February 25, 2020 Both fear and apathy seem to be growing when considering the coronavirus (COVID-19). What is the latest, should we be concerned and what should we be doing? Concern amongst governments and the medical community is growing as we see a rapid change in the spread of the virus. Italy now has 50,000 citizens in lock down in the area around Venice and Milan. Long lines are now the norm as only forty people at a time are allowed to shop for groceries. The world-famous Scala theater in Milan has been closed, church services banned, fashion week streamed instead of a live show, those not quarantined being told to work from home, and the country’s biggest soccer game of the season being broadcast with no fans ...

599. Heeding Modern-Day Warnings by Darla Isackson, in Meridian Magazine. Is there a Haun's Mill in our future?

Great article!  This is very timely!  We all need to check our status in being prepared! Heeding Modern-Day Warnings By Darla Isackson  · February 18, 2016 The morning was fresh and beautiful at the Haun’s Mill settlement. The children laughed and played and chased each other while the adults went about their daily tasks with no premonition. Yet many were living their last hours on this earth. The saddest part of that story is, had they followed the Prophet’s counsel the mob would have ridden in to find the settlement deserted. John Lee was an eye witness to an important conversation on 26 October 1838. He recorded the Prophet Joseph’s words to Jacob Haun: “Move in, by all means, if you wish to save your lives.” (Writing of John D. Lee, p. 60. Several other books also include this quote.) Haun replied that if the settlers left their homes all of their property would be lost and the Gentiles would burn their houses and other buildings. Joseph replie...

Is it time to review our Preparedness -- Food, water, etc.?  Here are some great ideas and references!  For those in other countries, you can modify these ideas to what is available in your own country.  Just think about it, and do what you can!     PREPAREDNESS The photo above came from this article in Meridian Magazine:http://ldsmag.com/getting-your-house-in-order-now/ Seventeen Ways to Sabotage Your Family Food Storage Plan By Carolyn Nicolaysen  · July 28, 2015, in Meridian Magazine In a real emergency, no one is going to ride in and rescue us if the calamity involves the whole community. Government, church leaders, prophets, and emergency response organizations all tell us to prepare – and to expect that in the aftermath of a disaster we will be on our own for 72 hours at least, and possibly for days or weeks after that. Coping with natural disasters is one thing – coping with a slow drain on our back-up reserves is a...

90. Does the California Drought Affect you? --about Food Storage

“The time will come that gold will hold no comparison in value to a bushel of  wheat. Gold is not to be compared with it in value.” Brigham Young (Journal of  Discourses, 1: p. 250). I just read an article from "Meridian" which came out on Jan. 30th -- and it seems appropriate to post it.  The article asks for a Fast Day on Feb. 2nd, and that has passed, but we can still pray for rain !  We need to be able to recognize the Signs of the Times, and Be Prepared!  I'll be the first to admit I haven't kept up as well as I should have.  I know we can got to www.storelds.org , and order some products.  When in "storeslds.org" in search, write food storage, and the page will come up.  Also if you have an LDS food storage place near you, you can go and see what they have you can buy.  I use quite a lot of potato flakes , and put a cup or two in bread, and/or cookies, and it gives a moist texture!
