This article has very deep meaning!  And I'm going to learn from it!   Must Everything Be Political? By  Steven Smith  · October 29, 2020 The following first appeared in Public Square Magazine. You’ve been a devoted member of the local Birdwatchers Association for . . . how long has it been? . . .going on fifteen years now.  Although you initially joined almost on a whim, your membership has become important to you: it’s pleasant getting together on a sunny Saturday morning with people you wouldn’t otherwise encounter to go out into nature and appreciate, together, the many-hued marvels of your feathered friends. This is something you’ve come to look forward to. Then, last week at the association’s annual meeting, something changed.  There was the usual business: officers were elected, scheduling discussed, association dues set for the coming year.  And then one of the members, Robert, proposed that the Association’s website should add an endorsement of “Black Lives Matter.” The

I read this in the Deseret News today, and I feel it is important for us                  to be aware of, and to study and learn what our leaders teach us! ‘Of course, Black lives matter’: President Oaks speaks on ‘Racism and Other Challenges’ at BYU devotional by Lindsey Williams  | Oct. 27, 2020 Speaking at the Marriott Center at Brigham Young University, President Dallin H. Oaks, First Counselor in the First Presidency, renewed Church leaders’ pleas to Latter-day Saints to “root out racism.” In his address, President Oaks spoke about current events tied to racism, like the police-produced death of George Floyd, as well as historical examples of racism, as reported by  Church News . Speaking about the protests following the death of George Floyd carried under the message of “Black Lives Matter,” President Oaks said, “Of course, Black lives matter—that is an eternal truth all reasonable people should support. Unfortunately, that persuasive banner was sometimes

1285. Chapter 3, on the New Testament -- Matthew chapters 5 through 8, the Sermon on the Mount.

Today, after an enjoyable week in which I got to see 2 small great granddaughters I had never seen before -- I will write on the Sermon on the Mount, Matthew 5 -- 7.  In April of 2018 I had the privilege of being on a tour group to Israel, and the surrounding areas.  I took a picture of the grassy area thought to be the place where Jesus gave the Sermon on the Mount, close to the sea of Galilee.   A beautiful meadow thought to be where the Sermon on the Mount was given. This was taken of me, as we were on a boat on the Sea of Galilee. Chapter 3, in the New Testament Student Manual: President Thomas S. Monson spoke of the Sermon on the Mount and the Galilean hillside where it took place: “Here it was that the greatest person who ever lived delivered the greatest sermon ever given—the Sermon on the Mount”.  I had the privilege of going to Israel and being on a hillside where they think the Sermon took place.   The Sermon on the Mount begins with the Beatitudes.  Pres. I subscribe to the blog post of Brad McBride, which is called "Thus We See".  I totally agree with his post, and want to give him total credit for this very timely blog post.  Please give him credit yourselves for this! Straining at Political Gnats, Swallowing Doctrinal Camels   by  Brad McBride   |  Posted on  Oct 21, 2020 Note: I’m sure I will lose some readers over this. I kinda understand. I’ve been at this for over a decade, and would hope that you know me by now. Here we are: Election time. What a mess. I have been a political junkie my entire life. At one point, I even thought seeking political office might be in my future – which lead me to degree in Political Science in college. Thank heavens I didn’t choose that path! It has become such a toxic wasteland that I’m glad I did not subject myself or my family to that corrupt world. Now we find ourselves at the brink of what many, myself included, feel is the most important presidential election of our lifetime. Never ha

1283. Thoughts for this beautiful day!

I subscribe (free) to Book of Mormon Central, which has daily inspiring thoughts, and helps in following "Come Follow Me".  Today I want to share with you their message for today, October 12th, Columbus Day.  I know I have done a blog on Columbus, you can access under "Labels".  First I want to show a picture I took yesterday after Church.  I saw this beautiful Sunflower growing between two pieces of cement on an overpass leading to the freeway!  I think it shows resiliency, tenacity, and an ability to blossom even under difficult circumstances.  We need to be like this!  I'll be gone a week, but will do a blog next week about Chapter 3, in Matthew chapters 5 to 7.
