This story, in LDS Living today, is such an inspiration, and I wanted to share it with you dear readers.  It made me shed a few tears! What a Stranger's Prayer in an Emergency Room Taught One Latter-day Saint Dad About Miracles by Nate Checketts  | Apr. 12, 2019 Makes You Think Mormon Life The following has been published in full with permission from Nate Checketts.  Four weeks ago was without question the scariest night of my life. It has taken me that long to revisit in detail that night and the events that followed it. I have made several attempts, facing down the blinking cursor but unable to get through the memories without fear and worry filling me again and leaving me in a state of panic. But as I have reflected on the experience again and again, it has been clear to me that it is meant to be shared. Not because I have any desire to draw attention to us as a family, but because I have felt prompted to do so a...

1063. How would it feel to meet 8 Apostles in one day? A true story in which this happened!

Image
This is a touching story about the distraught teen age son of a woman who died of cancer, and how he was comforted. TOPICS POPULAR MORMON REPORT LESSON HELPS How Meeting 8 Apostles and the Prophet in One Day Answered a Young Man's Desperate Questions by M. Russell Ballard, adapted from "When Thou Art Converted: Continuing Our Search for Happiness"  | Aug. 11, 2018 Makes You Think Mormon Life Comments Some years ago there was a rather serious tragedy in our ward. A great woman, the wife of our former bishop and a woman beloved and respected in our ward family, contracted cancer of the worst kind. This was a vivacious, effervescent woman who lifted and inspired everyone she met. As the disease became worse, I gave her blessings. Other General Authorities gave her blessings. One of the blessings I gave was in the presence of her seventeen-year-old son. Another blessing was given to her when her son was e...

This is a lovely article about how the Holy Ghost is truly a comforter. Accessing the Gift of the Holy Ghost By Joni Hilton  · January 17, 2018 I love to attend baptisms. I have yet to witness one where I didn’t feel the Spirit, and I can see the moist eyes of others experiencing the same thing. Recently I watched an eight-year-old girl in my ward enter into the waters of baptism, after her grandmother gave a beautiful talk about the Holy Ghost. The grandmother showed a quilt of her great-grandfather’s, truly a comforter, which is how the Holy Ghost is often identified. Of course we all know he is a member of the Godhead, and does much more than comfort. He also testifies of truth, he enlightens our minds, he prompts and inspires us to take righteous and charitable actions, he helps us make decisions, he warns us of danger, on and on. But we call him   The Comforter.  We don’t call him the Enlightener, or the Teacher, the Prompter, or the...

928. When I Heard My Deceased Daughter's Voice: The Profound Lesson She Shared

Image
This is a heart touching story, and seems appropriate after the tragedy that happened in Las Vegas last night , were one man from a room in a high rise hotel shot and killed 59 people, and injured around 500 more.  There are many stories going around about it, and the truth hasn't come out yet, about many aspects of the story.  My heart felt love and empathy go out to all affected by it. When I Heard My Deceased Daughter's Voice: The Profound Lesson She Shared by Bryan Young  | Sep. 02, 2017 Makes You Think Mormon Life The Lord has offered my family and me many tender mercies of spiritual communication that not all people will receive. However, I also know that the spirits of our loved ones are closer than we often times know, no matter who we are. In May of 2012, my daughter Holland was diagnosed with a brain tumor, shortly after her third birthday. The 14 months that followed were a roller coaster of hospital stays, brain surgeri...
