From www.mylifebygogogoff.com THE MOST COMFORTING DOCTRINE JOSEPH SMITH TAUGHT. Read in  Português On my mission, I loved teaching the doctrine of eternal families. After all, that is why my mother joined the Church. But inevitably after teaching about how families can be together forever in the Celestial Kingdom someone would ask the  million dollar question, “What happens if I do everything right and one of my kids goes to the other kingdom, how can our family be together?” And for the longest time, my only reply was “God is a loving Father, I don’t know what He will do, but rest assured you will be ok with it.” I did not know everything but I knew enough to walk by faith. The Power of Sealings. Halfway through my mission, I found the answer to this question. The answer to this question is actually a better understanding of the very sealing powers that make an eternal family even possible. In General Conference 1929 Orson F. Whitney expounded on the doctrine...

These are great thoughts, and very wise! Are We Ever Released from the Responsibilities of Parenting? By Julie de Azevedo Hanks  · January 16, 2018 We’ve heard phrases like “parenting is a calling from which you are never released [i] , [ii] ” over the pulpit many times, but rarely do we actually reflect on what this means. When taken literally, that it’s a parent’s job to continue to be their child’s caretaker throughout their lives, this belief can create enmeshed families with weak boundaries that undermine the adult child’s agency. Here are some ideas to consider about the danger of parents who are overly involved with their adult children and adult children who don’t fully transition into an adult role. Intrusive Parents   Too often, this belief of eternal parenthood is used to justify a parent giving constant (often unsolicited) input or criticism into an adult child’s life decisions. Does never being released from parenthood mea...

These are beautiful thoughts for your Sabbath Day. November 19, 2017 Gratitude for Jesus Christ SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY 2 Nephi 25:26 "And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins." QUOTE OF THE DAY Joseph F. Smith "No doctrine was ever as perfect as that of Jesus. . . . He has revealed to us the way of salvation, from the beginning, and through all the meanderings of this life to never-ending exaltation and glory in his kingdom, and to a newness of life therein. . . . "Happy is the man, indeed, who can receive this soul-satisfying testimony, and be at rest, and seek for no other road to peace than by the doctrines of Jesus Christ" ( Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Joseph F. Smith , p. 151-152). November 17, 2017 ...

797. Inspirational thoughts to start your week!

This is a small article that was in the Improvement Era, in 1950, just before Wayne and Blaine left for the Swedish Mission, in 1950.  That was one of the things I noticed about Wayne, -- his faithfulness in attending Church!  He and his twin brother Blaine had perfect Church attendance at all meetings, from ages 12 through 19.  This time last year he was getting weaker each day, and was totally on a feeding tube.  In the picture Wayne is on the left, then Blaine, and Ronald, and their father Roy is holding the scriptures. January 28, 2017 Tithing SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY  Malachi  3:10 "Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it." QUOTE OF THE DAY Gordon B. Hinckley "Now, do not get me ...
