1320. Navigating the (sometimes) rough road to happiness -- Meridian Magazine

This has some very thoughtful ideas from an LDS Psychologist.  Latter-day Saint psychologist: Navigating the (sometimes) rough road to happiness by Dr. David T. Morgan, Contributor  | Jul. 02, 2021 Our youngest child just graduated from high school. It was a strange experience, sitting in the same football stadium where we had watched her five older siblings celebrate the same accomplishment. Walking to the car, my wife and I reflected on the rapidly approaching end of our full-time parenting. There have been times of joy. There have been times of sorrow. There have been times when I wished I could crawl into a hole and not come out. There have been times when I gushed with tears of gratitude for the privilege of being a father to such amazing children. Coming to the end of this portion of the journey, I can truly say the overall experience has been happy and blessed. So, if my destination was joy, why was there so much difficulty, grief, and sorrow along the way?  The an...

1249. How to find new meaning in Alma’s teachings on faith as a seed in this week’s ‘Come, Follow Me’ by Danielle Christensen, in LDS Living

This is an especially nice post, in LDS Living, with a few short videos.  When you have time to listen, they really are worth the time! How to find new meaning in Alma’s teachings on faith as a seed in this week’s ‘Come, Follow Me’ by Danielle Christensen  | Jul. 14, 2020 Lesson Helps In this week’s  Come, Follow Me , readers will likely be familiar with  Alma 32:26 : Now, as I said concerning faith—that it was not a perfect knowledge—even so it is with my words. But that doesn’t mean that one has to give up on the hope of knowing gospel truths. Alma simply says one “cannot know of their surety  at first ”—not that one couldn’t know of their surety at some point i...

Any of you sisters out there will be well into the Book of Alma if you are trying to read the Book of Mormon before the end of the year, as our Prophet counseled!  It is such a blessing, and one thing we should be truly thankful for this Thanksgiving.  I have no idea what or where I would be without it, as my ancestors left comfortable homes, some even a country, (England mostly) to come be with the early Saints! Another thing I'm thankful for is that when my computer got a malware, which was loud and threatening, and menacing, my son-in-law Robert was able to take his Saturday, yesterday, and fixed it!  I need to keep better backups also! Why Joseph Smith's Dictation of the Book of Mormon Is Simply Jaw-Dropping by Brian C. Hales  | Nov. 10, 2018 Makes You Think One of the miracles of the restoration of the gospel includes the mechanical process that generated 269,528 words of the text of the Book of...
