This was written last September, after the Hurricane Harvey which was so devastating to those in Texas, and other states.   Other natural and other disasters will continue to happen, sadly.  But there are great ideas here on how to respond, and help.  Hopefully this will be a safe and peaceful winter, and                                           Happy New Year ,  but we want to be able to truly help our beloved fellowmen, especially those who will, and already are, suffering in some way. Thoughts on Responding to Disasters & Changing the World Aleah Ingram   September 1, 2017   F rom LDS Daily --  in Meridian Magazine This past week, I’ve received numerous invites to fundraising events to benefit those affected by Hurricane Harvey. It has truly been inspiring to see people around the world band together to help t...

My husband Wayne and I have had some inspiring stories about paying tithing!  I am a firm believer in paying an honest tithing, and generous fast offering.  At this time it is also good to give to the Humanitarian fund -- people all of the world are needing help.  I don't have time now, but I will write out some of our tithing stories very soon.     I am putting first a picture of my dad, Orson Pratt Miles.  Tomorrow would be his 126th birthday!  He and my mother taught me about tithing and Gospel living from the day I was born.  I have such a great heritage, and I am so grateful for it! Below is a painting I did of the photo above.  He was a gentleman through and through.  He always wore a hat and a tie -- often even in the house! This is a small article that was in the Improvement Era, in 1950, just before Wayne and Blaine left for the Swedish Mission, in 1950.  That was one of the things I noticed about Wayne, -- his faithfulness in attending Church!  He and his twin brother Blaine had perfect Church attendance at all meetings, from ages 12 through 19.  This time last year he was getting weaker each day, and was totally on a feeding tube.  In the picture Wayne is on the left, then Blaine, and Ronald, and their father Roy is holding the scriptures. January 28, 2017 Tithing SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY  Malachi  3:10 "Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it." How to Better Understand Your Mission on Earth By Fay A. Klingler  · May 22, 2016, in Meridian Magazine In 2013, I was invited to read and write a review for a book by Marlene Bateman Sullivan titled   Gaze into Heaven . It was a compilation of documented near-death experiences of life beyond the veil, drawn from the early history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I found the book engaging and insightful, teaching me much about life and death. Now a new book by Sullivan on the same subject— The Magnificent World of Spirits— has been released, and once again she asked if I would read it and write a review. This book was also filled with fascinating documented stories of individuals who died then returned to earth because there was yet a job for each of them to do. These stories provided for me further glimpses of life beyond the veil. Coincidentally, during the time period I was reading this second book about indivi...
