390. Update on my husband Wayne, -- and -- in our own adversities do we recognize our manna from heaven?

Image
I haven't written for a few days, mostly concerned for my husband, and helping him with some health problems he has had.  This was in Meridian Magazine on Feb. 17, 2015.  I kept it, and it is good to put here today.  Just 2 days earlier, Feb. 15th, my husband had gone to the hospital in an ambulance at 2:30 a.m.  Since then he has been in the hospital 3 times for 4 days each, two of which times he was in intensive care a day or two, once with a breathing tube down his throat, just to keep him breathing!  He has been in a local rehabilitation place for 16 days after one hospital stay, 2 days another time, 7 days another time, and now is back in the hospital the 4th time since Feb. 15th -- this time sent there by our kidney doctor -- the best in this area.  He had surgery this afternoon to have a pic line put in, and tomorrow he will start kidney dialysis.        Yes, it has been quite a ride, with several Priesthood blessings, and my...

389. Can the Atonement Swallow my deepest Pain and Loss? from Meridian Magazine.

Image
This is a very heart wrenching story, which was helped only by remembering the Atonement of Jesus Christ -- and it can help each one of us!  Today, April 5, 2015, is Easter, and the day we celebrate the Resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ. We also have really been inspired by General Conference yesterday and today.  This story is a bit long, but very touching and interesting. I grew up with three older brothers, but one brother, Kirk, is closest to me in age, and we were always best friends. We traveled everywhere together. We lived in South Pass City, Wyoming—a Ghost Town—for a summer together doing geology with my amazing geologist father and my pioneer mother. We traveled overseas and lived in Turkey together. We were there to pick up my oldest brother off his mission in Norway. We made messes ...

Image
Wasn't General Conference wonderful today, Saturday, April 4, 2015!   One Phrase Church Leaders Never Say Anymore + Why JANNALEE ROSNER - March 25, 2015 from LDS Living There are plenty of phrases that Latter-day Saints have heard repeated over and over again like scripture, though in reality they are only  based on scripture . “Free agency” is one of them. Most of us are probably familiar with the term "free agency" from Sunday School classes or children trying to assert their independence. But is agency really free? There are several scriptures that may have influenced Latter-day Saints to start adding the word  free  onto  agency.   2 Nephi 2:27 ;  10:23 ,  D&C  58:27 , and  Helaman 14:30  all mention some variation of each of us being free to choose or act for ourselves. However,  D&C 101:78  describes this principle in a different way that has recently become more widely used by Church le...
