610. The Kind of Communication that Bonds Generations, from Meridian Magazine. Great ideas!

Image
This is a very interesting article about communication, not only with grandchildren, but anyone we talk to. The Kind of Communication that Bonds Generations By Fay A. Klingler · March 27, 2016 In July 2015, I wrote an article on bonding generations. The article focused primarily on ways to communicate gratitude and help grandchildren remember fun times with the grandparents. Today’s article expands on the topic of communication between the generations. However, these suggestions work for all conversations, not just those with our grandchildren. Be Present We will see immediate benefits when we remember each morning when we pray to enlist our Heavenly Father’s help in understanding others and communicating effectively. Pray to communicate meaningfully—you to others and others to you. The scri...

609. 5 Profound Insights from "The Infinite Atonement" by Elder Tad R. Callister, in LDS Living.

This is from LDS Living, and is very inspirational about the Atonement. 5 Profound Insights from "The Infinite Atonement" by Jannalee Rosner  | Mar. 26, 2016 Makes You Think Next to Jesus the Christ  by Elder James E. Talmage, one of the best books about Christ I’ve ever read is Elder Tad R. Callister’s The Infinite Atonement . And while you can only absorb the full power of these inspired books by reading them from cover to cover, sometimes there simply isn’t time. So here are some of the most important and interesting ideas from The Infinite Atonement  to give you a taste of the spiritual power it contains. . 1. We don't think about or understand the Atonement enough . 2. The Atonement was infinite in more ways than one . 3. The Atonement was a covenant  Christ made . 4. Christ overcame temptation . 5. The Atonement was absolutely necessary . 1. We don’t think about or understand the Atonement enough. Eld...

608. Jesus Christ' Resurrection. "He is known by oh so many names, but He's not forgotten yours!" from "The Garden"

Image
Happy Easter, all you dear friends all over the world.   I haven't written for a week, and I want to write some of my thoughts today.   Yesterday my daughter Anita, and I went to a local performance of "The Garden", by Micheal McLean and Bryce Neubert.  It brought tears to my eyes.  It is such beautiful music written about Jesus Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane.  The line I like the best is "He is known by oh so many names.  But He's not forgotten yours!"  That really touched my heart.  If you have time, I'm sure many of the beautiful songs from "The Garden" are on you tube.  You could listen to them! This beautiful painting was by Minerva Teichert, Jesus and the black sheep. Five weeks ago early this morning my dear husband passed away, and I imagine by now has met our Savior, and felt His love.  I felt His love in that beautiful performance.  I haven't been able to actually cry much since Wayne passed away.  ...

607. Provo City Center Temple Dedication, and my chance to play the Salt Lake Tabernacle Organ.

Image
Today brought back many memories of various times in my life.  I have been to 2 Temple dedications, as I remember, of temples dedicated here in Utah, via watching on a large screen in our chapel.  Also the beautiful hymn, my favorite, "The Spirit of God" was sung, and I have a special story about that. Those of my readers, did you hear, about 5 years ago of the really elegant tabernacle, with spires, etc., in Provo which burned down, with only  the shell of  brick remaining?  It was quite a landmark at the time,  and many important people, musicians, Church, etc., had  spoken and entertained there.  Well, awhile after they decided to  revive it, and make it into a Temple.  It was quite an undertaking, as  only the brink walls remained.  They had to secure them, and do a lot  to keep them from falling down, while they totally rebuilt the  interior.  The temple by the MTC is used so much by the missiona...

606. Beautiful scripture, and quote about the Spirit World, where my beloved Wayne is now! and photos!

For any of you who have lost loved ones, a spouse, a sibling, or a child, this quoted below is most comforting information.   Wayne's funeral was 2 weeks and 2 days ago.  For the first few days, several of my children, and friends, would call to see how I am.  I know they still care, but their lives are busy, and they have gone back to life as it was before mostly.  And in this life I will never be able to go back to life as it was.  As I told one of our daughters, in any couple, one of you has to pass away first.  So true!  How many billions of people have gone through this very experience!  And yet when it is yourself, it becomes so personal.  Even though it seems strange to say it, I am grateful he was the first to go. (for his sake!) This was the program when Wayne and Blaine went on their first mission to Sweden, arriving in Sweden in December, 1950.  Blaine went on his eternal mission in 1999, and now Wayne has joined ...
