617. Chimps and Humans 99% identical DNA: A 35 Million Mutation Difference, from Meridian Magazine.

Did you ever remotely entertain the idea of human evolution from apes?  This is a fascinating article, using recent scientific findings.  This is another way of knowing we have an infinitely intelligent Heavenly Father (God) who created the universe, and all that is in it! This article about DNA confirms scientific evidence that DNA has the true story to tell.  A few years ago many people said that the Native Americans in North and South America didn't have DNA that could have shown they came from Jeru salem.  But recent studies have found several areas in North America where Native Americans DO HAVE DNA that shows they came from the area of Jerusalem.  We need to have faith  in what our prophets have said.  Science will one day prove it ! Viral Story: You Won't Believe What This Man in a Denny's Did to Answer a Single Mom's Prayer by LDS Living  | Apr. 12, 2016 Fun Makes YouThink    Mormon Life   "Today I met an angel." That's how the post, written by an anonymous worker from Denny's, begins. To look at the man, angelic isn't the first word that might pop into your mind. Dressed in black with arms and neck covered in tattoos, he seems like an unusual messenger from God. But, that's part of the beauty of this story. It causes all of us to step back and think about how we perceive others, because it was through this man God worked miracles. It was this man who helped answer one single mother's desperate prayer. He saw the needs of others, he reached out, and he served selflessly. And, because of that, his story has gone viral. A Facebook post ...

613. The Powerful Story Behind The Choir Member Who Cried at Conference, in the Tabernacle Choir, from LDS Living

Image
This is a very touching story to come from our Conference just passed! The Powerful Story Behind The Choir Member Who Cried at Conference Aleah Ingram April 4, 2016     For many, music is a special conduit to the spirit of God and can express a depth of testimony that is inadequate with words. This is no more evident than in the powerful hymns performed by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. During the Saturday Morning Session of the 186th Annual General Conference of the Church, members were treated to a stunning rendition of “Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing.”      However, something unusual occurred during the song and members around the world took notice. The usually peaceful and composed smiles of the Choir quickly changed as the camera focused on a single member, C. David Belt. Belt was show crying and singing emotionally through his tears. Conference-goers quickly related. We had the opportunity to talk with Belt about ...

612. April Fool's Day, and Lirpa Loof, and Wayne's idiosyncrasies!

Image
April Fool's Day was always a fun day, with Wayne around.  He would call various family members, and tell them some outlandish thing, passing it off as truth.  Most of the time they would see through it, and laugh!  They will miss it today.  For my April Fool's Joke, I want to tell fun things about Wayne. A classic April Fool's Day joke was first done by his twin brother Blaine.  They were both teachers, and loved to have fun.  Blaine had told his principal that Lirpa Loof, a Hungarian educator, was coming to their school (he taught in Las Vegas at the time) to visit.  The entire school was taught of how to treat a visiting dignitary, and the whole school assembled in their auditorium, awaiting the visit.  When Lirpa Loof didn't show up, Blaine told the principal "Spell that backwards!".  Of course, his principal, and perhaps others, were quite upset, and disappointed! In our book about our lives, Wayne includes one paragraph about his ...
