But one day all this came to a crashing stop. My world collapsed around me as I learned that my oldest and beautiful daughter,...

719. There’s No Conflict Of Interest When It Comes To Mormonism

Image
This insightful article by Greg Trimble shows why our no paid ministry allows for truth, and not just private interpretation of scriptures to be paramount in preserving the truth of our doctrines!  Great article! BY  GREG TRIMBLE     FAITH There’s No Conflict Of Interest When It Comes To Mormonism In my not too distant past… I found myself standing at an intersection with 4 different churches, one on each corner. I thought it would be fun and interesting to go in and talk to a couple of the priests and pastors of those churches about various aspects of their doctrine and beliefs. A couple of them had some time available because it was the middle of the day and not during their worship services. As we sat down, we began to discuss some of the many beliefs that each of us had and our interpretations of various passages in the Bible. I have always tried to keep my mind open to various belief systems and I’ve never wanted to be the guy that just shuns ev...

718. The Counterfeiting of "Love", by Ralph C. Hancock, in Meridian Magazine. Excellent article with so much wisdom!

Image
This article gives such insight in how to respond to anyone who believes "Love Wins", and they accept any form of love as being right.  Brother Hancock shows how that idea makes the need of repentance, etc., and living the commandments a secondary thing to loving everyone.  It basically shows that those who believe loving everyone is the right thing are not accepting the Plan of Salvation, and Heavenly Father's plan for us to become exalted! GREAT ARTICLE!  The Counterfeiting of “Love” By Ralph C. Hancock  · October 6, 2016 In  Part 1 of this series , I showed that the secular-Christian hybrid “Love Wins” ideology wields amazing dogmatic authority in our supposedly free-thinking age. In this part, I present examples of the presence of this ideology among prominent and influential LDS scholars and writers. The counterfeiting of “love,” the central ideal of Christianity, for purposes directly contrary to basic Christian morality i...

717. Prophets' Promises to Parents of Wayward Children, by the late Larry Barkdull, my long-time friend, and my 82nd birthday!

Image
On this morning of my 82nd birthday, I couldn't sleep, and got up soon after 5 a.m.  I have been thinking of so many things.  I remember Larry Barkdull from the year 1989, when he owned Sonos Music, and was willing to publish 3 Simplified Hymns, Primary Songs, and Songs for LDS Women, that I had prepared.  I could write much about our friendship. I am facing an interesting time in my own life.  I still have quite good health, but I am planning at this point, to clean out my home, and prepare in the spring or next summer to sell my home in St. George, where I was born and raised, and where my husband Wayne and I returned in 1981, and have lived since then.  I will probably move up north with my oldest son Wayne M., and his wife Julie.  I have been looking around my home, and all the memories in each picture on the wall, each momento, etc., and realizing that most of them will not go with me.  I plan to simply take many pictures of dear items that t...

716. The Accidental Road to Infidelity, by Wallace Goddard, in Meridian Magazine. Satan is very subtle!

This article has much wisdom!  We need to be vigilant always, and faithful to our spouse! Satan is subtle. And we are all vulnerable. A good friend taught me a lot about the subtle process that Satan uses. She is an earnest, married Latter-day Saint. She caught me at a social gathering to tell me of a great friendship she had developed with a man in her ward. She and he enjoyed great discussions about the gospel. Sometimes he called her from work. Occasionally they met downtown for lunch. He bought her little gifts. She told me how much she enjoyed her companionship with the man. I was worried. Then she told me how good the man was with children . . . and...
