805. Thoughts about the Spirit World, and about Wayne, and the fun we had having "Game Nights"!

Image
More about Wayne.  This was post #606 last March 16th.  I will just mention something that happened last night.  I accompany often, and one young man I accompanied a couple of weeks ago said "Pal!  When can we have a game night again?"  When Wayne was alive, we had many game nights with family, but also now and then we would invite young college age people to come and play games.  He had really enjoyed coming here when Wayne was with us.   Sorry this is blurry.  The writing says:  "After Wayne's hip replacement operation in November 2012, his heart had problems.  This game was in the ICU"  I took this picture above with my phone from our "Rook Book", which is a book Anita made, in which we record our game scores!  A picture of when Wayne was in the ICU and we played a game of 6 handed Rook! ---------------------------------------- So last night I had my grandson and his wife, and 2 other young amazing tenors, one wit...

804. Music in Wayne's ancestors, and histories of his ancestors from Sweden! Great family history!

Image
This was posted 3 years ago today, on February 4, 2014, and will be my entry about Wayne today.  There are references to our mission in Sweden in 1994-1995.  There was quite a bit of musical talent in his ancestors!  Wayne was so proficient in Swedish he could translate from English to Swedish, and vice versa.  Be sure and read below about key harps -- such an unusual instrument, but common in Sweden!   When our son Wayne learned to play the accordion we didn't know he had a great grandfather who was an accordion player, violinist, concertina player, etc. in Sweden! TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 4, 2014 86. Wayne's Swedish grandfather, a KEY HARP player -- unusual instrument! Wayne's grandfather, Johann Wengren Eckman was quite an interesting character.    His wife was the "gun toting grandma" told about in blog # 75, written on January 21, 2014 . I will include here pages from our book which are print screened.     This is a gr...

803. When Wayne found out he had esophageal cancer -- and he survived almost 6 months after that.

Image
This is a picture taken May 15, 2015, about 3 months before we found he had cancer.  We were at the Temple for our grandson Sam's wedding.  He had on the tie he loved, that our son Wayne had handmade especially on his mission in Ecuador, 40 years before.  It was hand woven, and had woven in the back "From your missionary."  Our son Wayne now has that tie.  Wayne wore it on special occasions. This was first posted on August 29th, 2015, after we found out Wayne had esophageal cancer.  He survived almost 6 months after that, even though he had radiation.   Wayne D Eckman, and his 9 lives!   He will be 85 this September 18th, and on September 24th we will have been married 60 years.  I want to record our latest adventure with my husband Wayne D Eckman, and add updates often.   He started radiation for esophageal cancer just yesterday, and had a treatment again today, and also today will have a dialysis treatment.   T...

Originally Blog # 109.  Pictures through the years of Blaine D and Wayne D Eckman, March 1, 2014 . These are pictures through the years of the identical twins, Blaine D and Wayne D Eckman.   Blaine was about 15 minutes older than Wayne, and born at home.  Read of them first in blog # 3.   Then their father Roy Waldamer Eckman's story is in blog # 93.  Their mother Gladys Dayton Eckman is told about in blogs #106 and #107.   More of their lives will come in the future.  This is a record of  photos through the ages!   Some of them have been in previous blogs, but it is nice to get them together here, chronologically.   They were born on September 18, 1930, and Blaine passed away suddenly at age 68, on March 19, 1999, and Wayne is now 83 years old, March 2014.  Joyce is still living, in St. David, Arizona, near their daughter Janise Wooten. Some are copied from our book, and I will rewrite the capt...
