Following our present Prophet is the key to following Jesus Christ today!  Powerful counsel and teachings!  How Can We Tell if We are Really Following Jesus Christ Today? By Mark A. Mathews  · March 23, 2017 Sign up for Meridian’s Free Newsletter, please  CLICK HERE Whenever I have read the New Testament, I have always placed myself in the text and wondered how I would have reacted to the teachings of Jesus Christ. Would I have followed him in faith like His Apostles? Would I have resisted or rejected his teachings like the Pharisees and Sadducees? Or would I have been indifferent and uninterested like so many others that he came across? I have learned that this is not a question we need to wonder about. The answer is simple. The Lord has revealed that the simplest way to measure how well we follow Jesus Christ today is by how well we follow His living prophets. At the Organization of the Church The first official meeting of...

Have we prepared ourselves to receive the word of the Lord? Are we in tune so that we can have our own questions answered? A quick review of some of President Monson’s words will help us prepare. The Lord Himself gave us the pattern for receiving His words through His ordained servants—and especially listening to a prophet’s voice: “Wherefore, meaning the church, thou shalt give heed unto all his words and commandments which he shall give unto you as he receiveth them, walking in all holiness before me; for his word ye shall receive, as if from mine own mouth, in...

842. It Can’t Be That Hard! (Oh, yeah!) And "My wife doesn't work!"

This article brings back many memories!  I relate to this very well! It Can’t Be That Hard By Daris Howard  · March 28, 2017 Sign up for Meridian’s Free Newsletter, please  CLICK HERE Sandy was a young mother with two preschool boys who were born eighteen months apart. They were like mini tornados. Each day it was all she could do to keep the boys clean and fed. And each day when her husband, Jason, came home, she would make sure the house was in order, even though she was exhausted. All she asked for was a little help in the evening so she could relax, too. Sandy was good friends with Jason’s mother, so one day she talked to her about it. Sandy didn’t want to say anything bad about her husband, so she just mentioned how tiring it was taking care of the boys. Jason’s...

841. Choosing Good News. We can look for the good, (and find it!) in this troubled world!

This is a very perceptive article!  As the world darkens, there is also light in many unexpected places.  Let's look for the light!   22 MARCH 2017   -   SALT LAKE CITY Choosing Good News Is the world getting worse? Some think our best days have passed; others think they’re just around the corner. But how do we know? By what criteria can we judge such a question? With limitless information at our fingertips, we can find stories and data to support either position. In one measurement or another, the world is always getting worse and always getting better — sometimes both at the same time. If we seek good news, we will find good; if we seek bad news, we will find bad. Perhaps the better question is, what kind of world do we choose to make? It may not be possible to understand the world in its entirety. We all have our blind spots. But any attempt must balance bad news with good news. The daily drumbeat of tragedy, catastrophe, war, folly, c...
