This very inspirational article is from Meridian Magazine. Following our Heavenly Parents’ Pattern for Parenting By  Richard Eyre  · September 6, 2021 Access the previous 10 articles in the series   HERE . Editor’s Note: After a 6-week hiatus for family and reunions, Richard Eyre last week resumed this twelve-part series on the restored doctrine of The Parental God—a belief which separates our theology from that of any other religion. In this article, part 10 in the 12 part series, we examine what we know about how God parents us and how we can apply the same principles in our own families. Author’s Note:  The central thrust and thesis of this series is that our belief in literal Heavenly Parents changes everything and is the most pivotal and distinctive teaching of the Restoration from which all other key theology stems.  If we are the spiritual children of Heavenly Parents then of course we lived with Them pre-mortally, of course They have a plan for ou...

1340. Why a Baptist reverend says ‘Come, Come, Ye Saints’ embodies ‘the struggle of the human family’, in LDS Living

I got this a week or so ago.  I really enjoyed reading it! Why a Baptist reverend says ‘Come, Come, Ye Saints’ embodies ‘the struggle of the human family’ by LDS Living  | Aug. 19, 2021 In a new video published by the Church’s newsroom, Elder Jack N. Gerard, a General Authority Seventy, sits down with Rev. Amos C. Brown of the Third Baptist Church of San Francisco. “We have not mastered that pronoun, ‘We,’” Rev. Brown tells Elder Gerard in the video. “We are family. We came from one Creator.”  Elder Gerard asks Rev. Brown about his love for the Latter-day Saint hymn “Come, Come, Ye Saints” to which Rev. Brown explained that he first heard the hymn 50 years ago during the Tabernacle Choir’s weekly broadcast.  “That hymn embodies a statement of the struggle of the human family,” Rev. Brown says. “The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints went through struggle. Your congregation did not rest in the ruins of oppression. It did not just survive. It struggled ...

1339. What happened when President Heber J. Grant felt prompted to call a “comparative stranger” instead of a close friend to be an Apostle by Dennis B. Horne, in LDS Living

I love stories of how inspired our prophets are -- and have been in the past! President Heber J. Grant was the prophet when I was a child!  He is the first one I remember hearing about while he was alive.   What happened when President Heber J. Grant felt prompted to call a “comparative stranger” instead of a close friend to be an Apostle by Dennis B. Horne, Contributor  | Aug. 24, 2021 Editor’s note: The following excerpt comes from a book about special witnesses of Jesus Christ. You can read this chapter in its entirety at  truthwillprevail.xyz  as well as other chapters as they are posted. This excerpt is republished here with permission. In 1919 a flu pandemic swept the world, killing many millions. It forced the Church to shut down its temples and meetinghouses and all public gatherings for months. President Joseph F. Smith himself had become incrementally ill for some time before that and had been largely confined to his room. Few church members and...

1338. Creating a Family Culture of Self-Reliance By Carolyn Nicolaysen · September 1, 2021, in Meridian Magazine

Another great article from Meridian Magazine.  We all can use this counsel! Creating a Family Culture of Self-Reliance By  Carolyn Nicolaysen  · September 1, 2021 “Preparedness, when properly pursued, is a way of life, not a sudden, spectacular program. We could refer to all the components of personal and family preparedness, not in relation to holocaust or disaster, but in cultivating a life-style that is on a day-to-day basis its own reward.” –Spencer W. Kimball September is National Emergency Preparedness Month in the United States. What a perfect time to recommit and create a culture that will bring peace now and for generations to come. A successful self-reliance program is all about creating a mindset, making preparing something the family does without even thinking about it; a family culture. Family culture is the combination of a family’s habits, traditions, goals, values, beliefs, and choices. Your family may have a family culture of service. When any fami...

I just read this story in the Deseret News that I get on the internet.  It brought tears to my eyes, as it will any of you who will read it.  The man in the story passed away this year on August 9, 2021, an 86 year old man! A Latter-day Saint behind enemy lines: The untold story of the man who spied on East Germany By  Heather Moore     Aug 29, 2021, 10:40pm MDT Share this story All sharing options Barbed wire and soldiers of the East German army block the border between East and West Berlin at Zimmerstrassen, Aug. 13, 1961.   Associated Press Several months into serving in West Germany, Bob Inama was called into Major Taggett’s office. “Sit down, Bob,” Taggett said. He put his schooling and career plans of attending George Washington University, and becoming a lawyer, on hold. A returned missionary f...
