A successful New York lawyer's response when called as an Apostle by Dennis B. Horne, Contributor  | Sep. 08, 2021 Editor’s note: The following excerpt comes from a book about special witnesses of Jesus Christ. You can read this chapter in its entirety at  truthwillprevail.xyz  as well as other chapters as they are posted. This excerpt is republished here with permission.  Brother Henry D. Moyle, then the chairman of the General Welfare Committee, had been in Salt Lake City before conference, but was given permission by President George Albert Smith to travel to New York City (to begin some legal work for a client) since there were no major Welfare issues needing his attention. 1  But as general conference was about to start (then a three-day affair), Henry received a “long-distance” telephone call from President Smith, in which he was called as an Apostle and told to return immediately to Salt Lake City so he could be sustained and ordained. 2  Near...

This Doctrine Answers Our Hardest Questions and Defines Us By  Richard Eyre  · September 14, 2021 Editor’s Note: This is the eleventh article in a twelve-part series on the restored doctrine of The Parental God—a belief which separates our theology from that of any other religion. Access the first ten articles  HERE . Author’s Note:  The central thrust and thesis of this series is that our belief in literal Heavenly Parents changes everything and is the most pivotal and distinctive teaching of the Restoration from which all other key theology stems.  If we are the spiritual children of Heavenly Parents then of course we lived with Them pre-mortally, of course They have a plan for our happiness, and of course we must prioritize our family like They prioritize Theirs. This series seeks to organize what we know from prophetic and official Church sources in a way that prompts personal pondering and prayer about our Parental God and perhaps draws us closer eve...

1343. HEALTH LESSONS FROM 9-11, HURRICANE IDA and KATRINA

I'm including this story from 'My Miracle Tea" today as it has been a life saver for me and my two sisters!  We are all 3 of us in our 80's.  I take this every day, and so do both my sisters.  I've taken it to some of my children when they had an operation, and had trouble getting their bodies to work again after being under a strong anesthetic.  You make 2 tea bags into a concentrate, and take 1/4 to 1/2 cup daily, in a whole cup of water.  You will feel better immediately!  I have so much confidence in it, I get an auto monthly shipment!     This is from the newsletter they send often.  It's about the original 9 -- 11.  HEALTH LESSONS FROM 9-11, HURRICANE IDA and KATRINA None of us will forget the morning of 9-11.  Twenty years later, it's still very fresh in my mind.  As I mentioned above, we lived just outside Washington D.C.   School had started for our children just the week before.  The skies were i...

1342. Elder Holland: What They Heard is Not What He Said, By Daniel C. Peterson · September 7, 2021, in Meridian Magazine

I know Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, and he is as true and good as any human on this earth! Elder Holland: What They Heard is Not What He Said By  Daniel C. Peterson  · September 7, 2021 Cover image via the Church Newsroom. To read more insights from Daniel, visit his blog:  Sic Et Non . Between my first arrival on campus in the fall of 1970 and my retirement on 1 July 2021—a span of fifty-one years—all but approximately eight years were spent as a member of either the student body or the faculty of Brigham Young University.  I say this not for nostalgia’s sake, and not even because my now-advanced age and the sheer length of that elapsed period amaze me, though they do.  (Jacob’s words, at the end of his life and of the book that bears his name, in which he writes that “the time passed away with us, and also our lives passed away like as it were unto us a dream” [Jacob 7:26] resonate with me more and more.)  I say it because it suggests how ver...
