LATTER-DAY SAINT LIFE David T. Morgan: 2 scriptures that help us understand why God allows us to pass through hard things By  Dr. David T. Morgan   May 02, 2022 05:00 AM MDT Twitter Pinterest Email Print Shutterstock I often get questions about the purpose and origin of mental health challenges. Are they part of divine design for our growth? Are they effects of choices made by others that afflict our development? Are they the natural, random outcome of living in a fallen world? In my experience, the answer to all three of these questions is “yes.” Understanding the beginnings of such issues can bring insight. But ultimately, those who are affected are still left with the long, arduous journey of growth and change that transforms poor mental health into more effective functioning. I don’t believe there is a way around that process. Practically every good thing requires much hard work and years of consistent determination. Advanced education, good health, material wealth,...

2004. Eva Witesman: Is Mother’s Day only for those who have borne children? By Eva Witesman , from LDS Living

I truly feel for dear women who want to be mothers, and are not able to have that wish granted in this life!  But they are loved often by nieces and nephews, and give love to other children who really are blessed because of them.  I truly was blessed to have my dearest wish to become a mother -- granted nine times! Eva Witesman: Is Mother’s Day only for those who have borne children? By  Eva Witesman   May 07, 2020 07:36 PM MDT Twitter Pinterest Email Print Shutterstock What does it mean that Eve was called the  mother of all living before she had children —before, some suspect, she was even capable of having children? And what does this teach us about the divine role of motherhood? As a young child, I loved to flip through my mother’s baby names book and read deep meaning into the names of my friends and family members. My mother’s first name means “star” and my father’s middle name means “who follows God,” just like mine. The meaning of my grandfather’s...

This article was so inspiring!  Also, she wrote a previous article which is referenced in the footnotes.  I always read footnotes!  They have often made such an impression on me -- as well as the article they follow!    Seek and Expect Miracles  By  Anne Hinton Pratt  · May 4, 2022 I’m a believer in miracles, and love to hear about the widely varied miracles that we as God’s children are privileged to experience.  My faith is strengthened by President Nelson’s directive to “Seek and Expect Miracles. [i]   God said,  “I am a God of miracles,” [ii]  and he means it.  Read these miraculous accounts… Miracle of Comfort during Horrific time Jeanne Guinn recounts a never to be forgotten experience,    “When I was 21 yrs. old my husband was shot and killed in front of me . As he lay dying I distinctly felt arms around me, comforting me. I don’t know if it was my dying husband’s spirit or an angel but 50 years later...

This is how I hope my children, and posterity look to me!  In the last few weeks I have had personal visits with 4 of my 5 daughters, and the son I live with.  I hope I can be this kind of inspiration to some of them at least .   7 Lessons Aging Mothers and Grandmothers Teach Their Families  By  Nicholeen Peck  · May 1, 2022 Mom has a bad knee, but that doesn’t stop us from making multi-generational memories to last a lifetime. Months ago, when I asked Mom to accompany me on a trip to Alaska she said, “Sure, I’ll come if you really want me to go with you. I don’t move very fast anymore because of my knee. Are you okay going slow or waiting for me sometimes?” I assured Mom that her slow pace was not a problem for me, and we planned our once-in-a-lifetime mother-daughter trip to Alaska. What Mom didn’t understand about my invitation for her to travel with me was that I love traveling with her, despite any special accommodation requirements, because...
