232. How wonderful to have friends, and relatives who encourage us, especially when we're down.

DEAR FRIENDS, BECAUSE YOU ARE ALL FRIENDS!  MY HUSBAND HAS BEEN IN THE HOSPITAL SINCE SUNDAY, WITH PNEUMONIA IN HIS RIGHT LUNG, AND FAILING KIDNEYS.  HE MAY STILL BE IN THE HOSPITAL FOR HIS 84TH BIRTHDAY ON THURSDAY -- SEPT. 18TH.

I HAD A ROTATOR CUFF SHOULDER OPERATION 3 WEEKS AGO, AND CAN'T DRIVE YET.  KIND FRIENDS AND RELATIVES HAVE DRIVEN ME TO THE HOSPITAL AND THE GROCERY STORE, AND OFFERED OTHER HELP.  I HOPE I CAN SOMEDAY HELP OTHERS AS I HAVE BEEN HELPED.

BELOW ARE SOME BEAUTIFUL THOUGHTS ABOUT FRIENDSHIP.

Friendship

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY:
Proverbs 17:17
"A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity."

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

Gordon B. Hinckley
Gordon B. Hinckley
"It is important to know, when you feel down, that many others do also and that their circumstances are generally much worse than yours. And it's important to know that when one of us is down, it becomes the obligation of his friends to give him a lift. I hope that each of us will cultivate a sensitivity toward the feelings of others, and when encouragement is needed, make an effort to extend it. Be a friend, and you will have a friend. God be thanked for wonderful friends" ("Strengthening Each Other," Ensign, February 1985).
