Elder L. Tom Perry to Receive Treatment for Cancer, Elder Richard G. Scott Hospitalized

This morning, the Church released a statement about the health of Elders L. Tom Perry and Richard G. Scott.

Earlier this week, Elder L. Tom Perry was hospitalized for breathing troubles. Though the Church announced that Elder Perry was released from the hospital and was resting at home Wednesday night, today, the Church gave an important update on Elder Perry's health:
“Elder L. Tom Perry will begin radiation treatment this morning after being diagnosed with cancer in the thyroid gland." They noted that, "Elder Perry is the second most senior apostle in terms of length of service in the Quorum of the Twelve, and the oldest living apostle."
In addition to Elder Perry's health concerns, the Church statement today also noted that Elder Richard G. Scott was hospitalized this week.
"Elder Richard G. Scott, age 86, was hospitalized last evening due to gastrointestinal bleeding," shared Eric Hawkins, Senior Manager of Media Relations for the Church Public Affairs Department. "The bleeding was brought under control and he is resting comfortably."
Additionally, the Church noted, the two brethren "are grateful for the prayers and kindnesses expressed on their behalf.”

Subject: Palmyra Temple--Rest of the Story T We rarely know all the details of a completed temple.   Much goes on in the months and years prior to its completion.   The Palmyra, NY temple is no exception and the story is one of great vision, insight and the Lord's intervention . The story starts years before, perhaps years before anyone thought to build a temple here.    In 1907 Apostle George Albert Smith purchased a portion of the original Smith farm for $16,000.   In 1915 he sold it to the Church for $1.00 and President Joseph F. How appropriate this is for July 24th, in just 3 days!  This is for all you readers who have pioneer ancestors , or you are a pioneer in your own family, or country.  You can send in your own story! Today I begin a training period so I can go back to our local Family History Center, and be a volunteer to help others.  From about 1992 to 2011, I volunteered, and 2 times served a 1 year mission there.  But since then, there are so many new things in technology that I need to catch up!   I took a class recently on how to upload photos and other memories on to Family Search, in Family Tree, and I have had so much fun doing that!  Both Wayne and I have had health problems over the last year or two, but we are at a time things are going better, and I want to get back to one of the things I love most -- FAMILY HISTORY, AND GENEALOGY! ! !
