499. Wayne's 85th birthday! And about the LDS video which offers direction for children against becoming addicted to pornography.

First of all, I want to tell all our readers that today is my husband Wayne's 85th birthday!  It also is the birthday of his identical twin, Blaine, who passed away over 16 years ago.  There are many blogs which tell about them.  If you are interested, you can check blogs # 491 on August 29, 2015, # 233 on September 18, 2014, and # 109 on March 1, 2014.

There are others, but these, plus the recent brief history of our lives on # 493, give a general idea about his eventful and amazing life!  He has been to radiation this morning, and will go to dialysis this afternoon, but he does this with cheerfulness and optimism.  He plans to take "Creamies", an ice cream treat to everyone at dialysis this afternoon!

This article below is appropriate for the times.  Tomorrow, in St. George, at the Dixie Center is "Protecting Children and Families from Pornography", by the Utah Coalition Against Pornography -- UCAP

'What Should I Do When I See Pornography?' LDS video offers direction for children

Children speak about the dangers of pornography and how to react to it in a video posted by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

In the video — "What Should I Do When I See Pornography?" — pornography is defined as "bad pictures of people with little or no clothes on." Children in the video explain why pornography is harmful by discussing how the brain reacts.

The video presents a three-step process for children to follow if they see a pornographic image: First, call it what it is. Second, turn it off and turn away. Third, talk to a trusted adult. (Click here to view the video on a mobile device.)

Viewers were invited to turn to Heavenly Father through prayer for help: "He has blessings in store for you. He wants you to be wise, strong and good. And he wants you to be safe."

Elder Dallin H. Oaks of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles discussed the increasing dangers of pornography in an April 2005 general conference talk, "Pornography."

"The corrupting influence of pornography, produced and disseminated for commercial gain, is sweeping over our society like an avalanche of evil," Elder Oaks said.

The LDS Church has a website dedicated solely to overcoming pornography, discussing both pornography addiction recovery and prevention. There are several family home evening lessons on the site dedicated to pornography awareness, and other videos about the topic, including "Pornography Addiction: Is There Hope?" and "To Look Upon," are available on theMormon Channel.
