523. Singing With the Mormon Tabernacle Choir a 'dream'! Article in the Davis County Clipper about our son, Wayne Miles Eckman.

Our son, Wayne Miles Eckman, is in the Tabernacle Choir.  The Davis County Clipper did an article about him, and interesting facts about being a member of the Choir.  In getting permission to print this, they asked that I write a bit at the first, and then give you a link where you can read
                            "the rest of the story".

Singing with Mormon Tabernacle Choir a ‘dream’

BOUNTIFUL— The Mormon Tabernacle Choir’s music can be just as much of a dream to sing as it is to listen to.

At least, that’s the case for Wayne Eckman, a Bountiful State Farm agent who has sung with the choir for the last five years. He recently joined the group for its tour of New York and the surrounding area, where they performed at venues such as Carnegie Hall and West Point.

Wherever they sing, though, it’s the music that matters most to Eckman.
“I’ve always loved music,” he said. “To sing, and fill your heart and soul with that music two to three times a week is a life’s dream come true for me. Every time I’m there, I pinch myself and think ‘How did I get here?’”

Like all of the singers who join the choir, Eckman got there through the audition process. Those who apply must live within 60 miles of Temple Square, a necessity for choir members who must go to the square for practices and the spoken word each week.
