703. Wayne's 86th birthday, DNA Results, the Philadelphia Temple Dedication, etc. NEWS!

I wrote some of this a year ago today, on my dear late husband Wayne's 85th birthday.  Tonight we had a family dinner, sang "Happy Birthday" to him and his twin brother Blaine, and talked about what wonderful men they were, and are.   I'm including pictures of Wayne and Blaine.  Last night I looked at lots of pictures of Wayne, and listened to a video of him telling about indexing and heard his voice.

This was written last year on this date:

"First of all, I want to tell all our readers that today is my husband Wayne's 85th birthday!  It also is the birthday of his identical twin, Blaine, who passed away over 16 years ago.  There are many blogs which tell about them.  If you are interested, you can check blogs # 491 on August 29, 2015, # 233 on September 18, 2014, and # 109 on March 1, 2014.

Blaine, left, and Wayne right, when they spent a day together on their missions in Sweden.  Most of the time they were in different cities.

There are others, but these, plus the recent brief history of our lives on # 493, give a general idea about his eventful and amazing life!  He has been to radiation this morning, and will go to dialysis this afternoon, but he does this with cheerfulness and optimism.  He plans to take "Creamies", an ice cream treat to everyone at dialysis this afternoon!"    (That was a year ago today.)

Blaine on the left again, and Wayne on the right.  In front of my mother's home in St. George at 230 So. 100 East, about 1970.

This is the article Wayne put in the local newspaper after they both had retired, and Blaine moved here to St. George.  This time Wayne is on the left, and Blaine on the right.  About 1992.

Now today is quite an interesting day.  It also was the dedication of the Temple in Philadelphia.  For those who would like to see a short video, here is the link:

This week I got back my DNA test.  It is interesting-- and in the results it gives lots of history of each region back to the 700 a.d. time forward -- about.  I found I am the following:

 REGION

APPROXIMATE AMOUNT

Europe100%

  • Great Britain 45%
  • Europe West 9%
  • Ireland 17%
  • Scandinavia  8%
  • Iberian Peninsula 6%
  • Trace Regions

  • Europe East 3%
  • Italy/Greece2%

My sister Vina told me of a very interesting DNA story she heard last night at her Stake Conference meeting.  Her Stake Pres. told of a young American man who was in the Vietnam war, and spent time with a Vietnamese girl.  He didn't know it at all, but later she had a baby boy by him.  She married a Vietnamese when he was about 2 and soon became ill and before she died she asked her husband to take care of her son.  He said he would, but at about age 6, the was thrown out of the house, and beaten many times, and spent much of his time on the street until he was about 19, almost starving and being ostracized in his country.

When he was about 9 years old some Catholic Nuns helped him a bit, and he asked them why people were so mean to him.  They told him it was because he looked so different -- he looked American.

When he was 19, he took advantage of an offer by the United States for any children there who had American fathers, to be able to come to the United States.  He came, and eventually married a beautiful girl.  He was very kind and forgiving of his step father, and helped him and his family come to the United States.

His daughter convinced him he should get his DNA done awhile ago.  He is now about 45 years old.  Then this last summer, this Stake President's brother's daughter convinced him he should get his own DNA done.  Soon after they got notice from an Asian sounding name that he was probably related to them.  He was actually the son of the brother who had been in the war in Vietnam, who didn't know he had a son there!  When they got together, this Vietnamese man's children looked just like the children of his American relatives!  Now he has a full extended family!  Those are the high-lights of the story.  Isn't that interesting!

I hope you all have had a wonderful Sabbath Day, and will have a good week!
