725. Latter Day Light quotes for a wonderful Sabbath Day.

I love to follow these Latter Day Light quotes, and the Church History that follows them each day.  These were posted within the last week.

Have a lovely Sabbath Day!  I had a really delightful week, with a class reunion of my old friends, who graduated with me from Dixie High School in 1952, and Dixie Junior College in 1954.  But why did they all look so old? ! !

Gratitude for Our Time
SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
 Doctrine & Covenants 121:33

"How long can rolling waters remain impure? What power shall stay the heavens? As well might man stretch forth his puny arm to stop the Missouri river in its decreed course, or to turn it up stream, as to hinder the Almighty from pouring down knowledge from heaven upon the heads of the Latter-day Saints."
Gordon B. Hinckley
QUOTE OF THE DAY
Gordon B. Hinckley

"I do not know what we did in the preexistence to merit the wonderful blessings we enjoy. We have come to earth in this great season in the long history of mankind. It is a marvelous age, the best of all. As we reflect on the plodding course of mankind, from the time of our first parents, we cannot help feeling grateful" ("Living in the Fulness of Times," Ensign, November 2001).

Statesmen
SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
 Mosiah 29:25

"Therefore, choose you by the voice of this people, judges, that ye may be judged according to the laws which have been given you by our fathers, which are correct, and which were given them by the hand of the Lord."
Harold B. Lee
QUOTE OF THE DAY
Harold B. Lee

"We would hope that we might be instrumental in developing statesmen---men not only with unsurpassed excellence of training in the law, but also with an unwavering faith that the Constitution of the United States was divinely inspired and written by men whom God raised up for this very purpose.

"Teachers, hold up before your students the prophetic statement of the Prophet Joseph Smith---that if and when our inspired Constitution should hang as by a thread, there would be prepared well-qualified defenders of the faith of our fathers, the elders of this church, who would step forth and save the Constitution from destruction" (The Teachings of Harold B. Lee, p. 360).
Good Men and Women
SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
 Doctrine & Covenants 98:8-10

"I, the Lord God, make you free, therefore ye are free indeed; and the law also maketh you free.   Nevertheless, when the wicked rule the people mourn.  Wherefore, honest men and wise men should be sought for diligently, and good men and wise men ye should observe to uphold; otherwise whatsoever is less than these cometh of evil."
Spencer W. Kimball
QUOTE OF THE DAY
Spencer W. Kimball

"To those of you who are citizens of the United States: I wish to urge you and your family members of voting age to go to the polls in large numbers next month . . . and vote for the strongest, finest people who are certain to do the most to safeguard the rights and freedoms of this nation. We do not endorse any candidates, but we hope you will vote for good men and women of character, integrity, and ability. You are to be the judge" ("Ministering to the Needs of Members," Ensign, November 1980).

Patience in Spiritual Things
SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
 Doctrine & Covenants 78:18

"And ye cannot bear all things now; nevertheless, be of good cheer, for I will lead you along. The kingdom is yours and the blessings thereof are yours, and the riches of eternity are yours."
Howard W. Hunter
QUOTE OF THE DAY
Howard W. Hunter

"There may be so very much our Father in Heaven would like to give us---young, old, or middle-aged---if we would but seek his presence regularly through such avenues as scripture study and earnest prayer. Of course, developing spirituality and attuning ourselves to the highest influences of godliness is not an easy matter. It takes time and frequently involves a struggle" ("Blessed From On High,"Ensign, November1988).
