739. Anita and Reed's wedding tomorrow, and beautiful thoughts from Latter Day Light!

Here are some beautiful thoughts from Latter Day Light!

And tomorrow, November 19, 2016, will be a totally special day for our family.  Our daughter Anita will be getting married to Reed Lunnen in the Bountiful, Utah, Temple.  They are so happy!  The interesting thing about them is that Reed is the youngest brother of my husband Wayne's twin brother Blaine's wife Joyce!  Blaine's son Joe got the idea to introduce them around last April.  We wonder if Wayne and Blaine, up above, put the thought in his head!

Anita has been a first cousin to their children, and now will also be their aunt!  His and her children and the whole family are happy for them, and making good relationships together.

This was their engagement picture.

These are Anita's 4 sons, from left to right:  Sam, Ben, Jake, and David, in the airport when Jake returned home from his mission to Indonesia, last summer, in 2016.
This is their invitation, and we will have a private family party after the Temple.

This is the painting I painted for their wedding gift.

Charity
SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
 1 Corinthians 13:3-7

"And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.  Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;  Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;  Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things."

QUOTE OF THE DAY
Heber J. Grant

"Many people imagine that charity is giving a dollar to somebody; but real, genuine charity is giving love and sympathy" (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Heber J. Grant, p. 153).

Faith in God
SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
 Hebrews 11:6

"But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him."

Joseph F. Smith
QUOTE OF THE DAY
Joseph F. Smith

"The truth is, every son and daughter of God must first have faith in God---faith that He is, that He is righteous, that He is almighty, that He governs all things, and that in Him all perfection dwells. You may not have a knowledge of this, but you must have faith that this is true. This is the first principle of revealed religion. It is written that without faith it is impossible to please God"(Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Joseph F. Smith, p. 52).
Divine Help
SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
 Moroni 10:32

"Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you, that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ; and if by the grace of God ye are perfect in Christ, ye can in nowise deny the power of God."

Lorenzo Snow
QUOTE OF THE DAY
Lorenzo Snow

"When we once get it into our minds that we really have the power within ourselves through the gospel we have received, to conquer our passions, our appetites and in all things submit our will to the will of our Heavenly Father, and, instead of being the means of generating unpleasant feeling in our family circle, and those with whom we are associated, but assisting greatly to create a little heaven upon earth, then the battle may be said to be half won" (Teachings of presidents of the Church: Lorenzo Snow, p. 101).

Spirit of Elijah
SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
 Malachi 4:5-6

"Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord:  And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse."
Joseph Smith
QUOTE OF THE DAY
Joseph Smith

"The spirit, power, and calling of Elijah is, that ye have power to hold the key of the revelation, ordinances, oracles, powers and endowments of the fullness of the Melchizedek Priesthood and of the kingdom of God on the earth; and to receive, obtain, and perform all the ordinances belonging to the kingdom of God, even unto the turning of the hearts of the fathers unto the children, and the hearts of the children unto the fathers, even those who are in heaven" (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Joseph Smith, p. 311).
