Last night we went to a very inspiring lecture in the St. George Tabernacle by Glen Rawson.  He was a Seminary teacher for 30 years, and now is an LDS tour guide, and talks often in various places.  He told several inspiring and touching stories about pioneer women, and their trials, and how strong they were.  He looked at our audience, and said to us, "You folks in this audience come from strong stock!"  I truly felt what he was saying, and decided to repost two posts that I have done before, about one of my great-greatgrandmothers, Carolyn Farozine Skeen Butler.  I have several wonderful pioneer stories about my great grandmothers, and will probably repost some in the next few days. 164. My great-grandparents, Haden Wells Church and Sarah Ann Arterberry, many missions, and pioneers to St. George.

I wrote about my great-grandfather Haden Wells Church in blog # 23, last December 3, 2013. That was about the day the original pioneers arrived in St. George, Utah, and he was among their number.  In that blog there is a very brief history of his life.  In this entry, I will tell more details.  He was a great pioneer, and went on 5 missions, the last of which was in Tennessee, where he died of typhoid fever, and was buried next to his father, in his home town of Shady Grove, Tennessee. Haden was a member of the Mormon Battalion, and this story begins with their arrival back in the Salt Lake Valley on July 27 or 29th, right after the very first company arrived with Brigham Young, when he said "This is the place!"  The battalion members were listed as being mustered-out of the army on July 16th since their year's enlistment ended on that date.       Little is known of Sarah Ann and her baby, Hyrum , before they were reunited. 20. Spiritual Preparedness, talk by Pres. Henry B. Eyring, Oct. 2005

    We all have just enjoyed the Thanksgiving holiday.  In order to have had a successful Thanksgiving dinner, and enjoy family members, we needed to prepare beforehand.  The preparation helped make it a pleasant holiday, with lots of good family memories.   The preparation we make to truly follow and be committed to living the Gospel, takes even more preparation.  It takes daily thought, and committing ourselves to living in the way that will bring us eternal happiness.  I enjoyed Pres.
