Just after Vice President Mike Pence took the vice presidential oath of
office using the Reagan family Bible, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir
performed this inspiring rendition of "America the Beautiful,"
accompanied by the United States Marine Band known as
The President's Own.
Their performance came right before President Donald Trump took the presidential oath of office and delivered his inaugural address.
And check out these fun photos from the event:

Image
Today as I post this article about suicide, a funeral is being held for a good friend of one of my grandson's, about 20 years old, who took his own life.  I do hope any reading this haven't experienced this with anyone close to you.  But we have, and it truly is heartbreaking.  For those left behind, the healing power of the Atonement of our Savior Jesus Christ is the only thing that can heal your heart.  This is a comforting article. 4 Lessons of Hope I Learned from My Sister's Suicide by Ganel-Lyn Condie  | Sep. 16, 2017 Makes You Think Mormon Life  For National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, we wanted to highlight this powerful story from LDS author Ganel-Lyn Condie. Smith called Bro Willard Bean and wife Rebecca on a 5 year mission to manage the farm and be the first stationary missionaries in the area since the Saints removed to Ohio in 1830.  They served here for 25 years! making numerous improvements to the farm,  softening the attitudes of the local residents, helping the Church to acquire more of the farm, and even the hill we now call the Hill C...

ANTHONY JANSEN VAN SALLEE, 1607-1676                              by Hazel Van Dyke Roberts, PH.D.   I'm using the historical writing of Hazel Roberts, as she did a lot of research on it.  Anthony was the son of the Pirate King, Jan Jansen, told about in the last entry, # 154.  This is about an interesting part of early New England History.  New Amsterdam became the city New York when the English conquered the Dutch in 1664.       Anthony Jansen Van Salee was a unique, interesting, and  important figure in the early history of New Amsterdam,  He has been found to be the most unusual and interesting figure in the New Amsterdam records . Contentious and obviously a nuisance to them, he was treated by the authorities with the respect due to a person of importance.  It is speculated that Anthony’s ...
