Don’t Miss Face to Face Broadcast with President Eyring and Elder Holland this Week

Mormon youth will ask two apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints questions during a live Face to Face event in Palmyra, New York, where Church founder Joseph Smith experienced what is commonly referred to as the First Vision. President Henry B. Eyring, first counselor in the First Presidency, and Elder Jeffrey R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will participate in the worldwide broadcast Saturday, March 4, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. MST.
“We hope you’ll prepare for the event by reading the account of the Prophet Joseph’s First Vision and also of trying yourself to ask God in faith for answers,” said President Eyring in a video invitation. “I promise you a wonderful experience.”
Elder Holland said, “Can you imagine a better place to be with President Eyring than Palmyra, New York, to talk about asking questions of God and receiving answers? That will be true not only for the Prophet Joseph in the First Vision, but it will be true to you in your own way as you ask questions in your life.”
Youth can ask questions before the event on LDS.org, on the LDS Youth Facebook page or on other social media channels using the hashtag #LDSface2face.
The broadcast will be available on the LDS Youth YouTube channel and Facebook page. Tune in early for the broadcast premier of “Ask of God — Joseph Smith’s First Vision,” a new video portraying the First Vision, beginning at 10:45 a.m. MST.
Mormons believe Joseph Smith saw God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, in 1820 in the Sacred Grove at the age of 14 after praying to know which church to join after reading a passage of scripture in the Bible (James 1:5–6). Prayer is also part of the Church’s youth theme this year.
Previous Face to Face events have featured Latter-day Saint performers such as the cast of “Studio C” and the Piano Guys, as well as Church leaders Elder David A. Bednar and Elder Ronald A. Rasband of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and Sister Bonnie L. Oscarson, Young Women general president. In December, Elder D. Todd Christofferson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and his wife, Kathy, participated in a Face to Face broadcast from Guatemala in Spanish and Portuguese.

5 Ways to Prepare for Face to Face with President Eyring and Elder Holland

The event will be streamed live on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. MST on LDS.org, face2face.lds.org, the LDS Youth YouTube channel, and the LDS Youth Facebook page. This event can be used in whole or in part for a Mutual activity, or youth can also watch with their friends or family at home.
Tune in early for the broadcast premier of “Ask of God—Joseph Smith’s First Vision,” a stunning new video portraying the First Vision, starting at 10:45 a.m. MST.
It’s not every day you get to hear your questions answered by two Apostles of the Lord. This is an amazing opportunity to learn and receive answers—possibly to questions you didn’t even think to ask. What can you do to prepare?
Here are five suggestions:
  1. Read Joseph Smith’s account of what happened in Palmyra in the spring of 1820. (Did you know that this event will be broadcast from Palmyra?)
  2. Think about the questions you have that you would like to ask the Lord. Write them down. You can submit them on the event page or keep them in a journal. See if you receive any inspiration during the event that may be helpful.
  3. Invite a friend to watch it with you.
  4. Tune in 10 minutes before the event to watch the world premiere of “Ask of God,” a brand-new video about the First Vision.
  5. After the event is over, write down your thoughts and feelings. What did you learn?

Subject: Palmyra Temple--Rest of the Story T We rarely know all the details of a completed temple.   Much goes on in the months and years prior to its completion.   The Palmyra, NY temple is no exception and the story is one of great vision, insight and the Lord's intervention . The story starts years before, perhaps years before anyone thought to build a temple here.    In 1907 Apostle George Albert Smith purchased a portion of the original Smith farm for $16,000.   In 1915 he sold it to the Church for $1.00 and President Joseph F. How appropriate this is for July 24th, in just 3 days!  This is for all you readers who have pioneer ancestors , or you are a pioneer in your own family, or country.  You can send in your own story! Today I begin a training period so I can go back to our local Family History Center, and be a volunteer to help others.  From about 1992 to 2011, I volunteered, and 2 times served a 1 year mission there.  But since then, there are so many new things in technology that I need to catch up!   I took a class recently on how to upload photos and other memories on to Family Search, in Family Tree, and I have had so much fun doing that!  Both Wayne and I have had health problems over the last year or two, but we are at a time things are going better, and I want to get back to one of the things I love most -- FAMILY HISTORY, AND GENEALOGY! ! !
