836. Jeremy on You Tube, and getting married today! Also more beautiful thoughts!
Today my youngest son, Jeremy, will be married! Check out blog # 704, last September 20, 2016, to read about his life. He has had trials and disappointments in life, as we all have had, but this marriage will bring him such great happiness, I know! You can see him play the piano on these places on youtube: The first is a rag-time and the second Valse Romantique by DeBussy. He performed at the Town and Country Bank on February 24, 2017, this year. I absolutely love his dear wife to be -- today! More about that later. Also are some beautiful thoughts for the day included. Have a wonderful day!
This was taken several years ago when he played in a concert in the Tabernacle.

Worship Jesus Christ
|
SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
2 Nephi 25:29
"And now behold, I say unto you that the right way is to believe in Christ, and deny him not; and Christ is the Holy One of Israel; wherefore ye must bow down before him, and worship him with all your might, mind, and strength, and your whole soul; and if ye do this ye shall in nowise be cast out."
|
QUOTE OF THE DAY
Joseph Fielding Smith
"We believe that worship is far more than prayer and preaching and gospel performance. The supreme act of worship is to keep the commandments, to follow in the footsteps of the Son of God, to do ever those things that please him. It is one thing to give lip service to the Lord; it is quite another to respect and honor his will by following the example he has set for us" ("I Know That My Redeemer Liveth," Ensign, December 1971).

Control Appetites and Passions
|
SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
Doctrine & Covenants 89:4
"Behold, verily, thus saith the Lord unto you: In consequence of evils and designs which do and will exist in the hearts of conspiring men in the last days, I have warned you, and forewarn you, by giving unto you this word of wisdom by revelation."
|
QUOTE OF THE DAY
David O. McKay
"The Church urges men to have self-mastery to control their appetites, their tempers, and their speech. A man is not at his best when he is a slave to some habit. A man is not his best who lives merely to gratify his passions.
"That is one reason why the Lord has given the Church the revelation of the Word of Wisdom so that, even from boyhood and girlhood, young men and young women may learn to control themselves. That is not always easy. The youth today face enemies---false ideologies and immoral practices. ... Sound preparation is necessary to meet and conquer these enemies" (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: David O. McKay, p. 108).

Love at Home
|
SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
Deuteronomy 11:18-19
"Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul . . . And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up."
|
QUOTE OF THE DAY
George Albert Smith
"It is our duty---I should say it is our privilege as well as our duty to take sufficient time to surround our children with safeguards and to so love them and earn their love that they will be glad to listen to our advice and counsel" (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: George Albert Smith, p. 228).

Let Your Light Shine
|
SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
Matthew 5:14-16
"Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."
|
QUOTE OF THE DAY
Heber J. Grant
"I want to say to the Latter-day Saints that it behooves us, having received a testimony of the divinity of the work in which we are engaged, to so order our lives from day to day that glory shall be brought to the work of God by the good deeds that we perform, so letting our light shine that men, seeing our good deeds, shall glorify God" (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Heber J. Grant, p. 96).
