853. HAPPY EASTER! Beautiful thoughts to inspire us!

These beautiful thoughts from Latter Day Light really help us feel the beauty and importance of this Easter Season!  I am more grateful than I have words for, that Jesus Christ died for each of us, and that we can repent and be forgiven, and through the Atonement be made clean again!

Last night Julie (my daughter-in-law) and I went to a very beautiful and inspiring musical play "Savior Of The World".  It told the story of Jesus' birth, from Elizabeth and Zacharias to the crucifixion, and was beautifully done by the Centerville North Stake.  It  certainly will be a testimony builder for the 100 or more young people in it, plus adults!

Resurrection of Jesus Christ
SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
1 Corinthians 15:19-22

"If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.  But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the first fruits of them that slept.  For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.  For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive."

Spencer W. Kimball
QUOTE OF THE DAY
Spencer W. Kimball

"This resurrection referred to is the work of Jesus Christ, the Savior, who, because he was both mortal (the son of Mary) and divine (the Son of God), was able to overcome the powers governing the flesh. . . . Being a god, he gave his life. No one could take it from him. He had developed, through his perfection in overcoming all things, the power to take up his life again. Death was his last enemy, and he overcame even that and established the resurrection" (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Spencer W. Kimball, p. 27).

Redemption
SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
Alma 12:25

"Now, if it had not been for the plan of redemption, which was laid from the foundation of the world, there could have been no resurrection of the dead; but there was a plan of redemption laid, which shall bring to pass the resurrection of the dead, of which has been spoken."

QUOTE OF THE DAY
Joseph Fielding Smith

"Why was he nailed there? He was nailed there that his blood might be shed to redeem us from this most terrible penalty that could ever come, banishment from the presence of God. He died on the cross to bring us back again, to have our bodies and spirits reunited. He gave us that privilege. If we will only believe in him and keep his commandments, he died for us that we might receive a remission of our sins and not be called upon to pay penalty. He paid the price" (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Joseph Fielding Smith, p.62).

Plan of Salvation
SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
Abraham 3:26

"And they who keep their first estate shall be added upon; and they who keep not their first estate shall not have glory in the same kingdom with those who keep their first estate; and they who keep their second estate shall have glory added upon their heads for ever and ever."

Brigham Young
QUOTE OF THE DAY
Brigham Young

"I say that the greatest good fortune that ever happened or can happen to human beings is to be born on this earth, for then life and salvation are before them; then they have the privilege of overcoming death, and of treading sin and iniquity under their feet, of incorporating into their daily lives every principle of life and salvation and of dwelling eternally with the Gods" (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Brigham Young, p. 50).
