883. Beautiful thoughts for busy days!

My days are getting busier all the time!  I am on a Church Service Mission, in which I do 8 hours or more a week in the Records Operations Center mission.  It is called V-ROC, as it is done entirely in my home on my own computer, even the training.  But added to that I have had family get togethers, etc. so I will post things that don't take a lot of my time for awhile!

Our Days Are Numbered
SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
Doctrine & Covenants 122:9

""Therefore, hold on thy way, and the priesthood shall remain with thee; for their bounds are set, they cannot pass. Thy days are known, and thy years shall not be numbered less; therefore, fear not what man can do, for God shall be with you forever and ever."

Gordon B. Hinckley
QUOTE OF THE DAY
Gordon B. Hinckley

"If we would claim to worship and follow the Master, must we not strive to emulate his life of service? None of us may rightly say that his life is his own. Our lives are gifts of God. We come into the world not of our own volition. We leave not according to our wish. Our days are numbered not by ourselves, but according to the will of God" (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Gordon B. Hinckley, p. 203).

Capitalize On Our Strengths
SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
Doctrine & Covenants 64:33-34

"Wherefore, be not weary in well-doing, for ye are laying the foundation of a great work. And out of small things proceedeth that which is great.  Behold, the Lord requireth the heart and a willing mind; and the willing and obedient shall eat the good of the land of Zion in these last days."

Howard W. Hunter
QUOTE OF THE DAY
Howard W. Hunter

"Part of our difficulty as we strive to acquire spirituality is the feeling that there is much to do and that we are falling far short. Perfection is something yet ahead for every one of us; but we can capitalize on our strengths, begin where we are, and seek after the happiness that can be found in pursuing the things of God" (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Howard W. Hunter, p. 83).

First Commandment
SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
1 John 5:2-3

"By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.  For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous."

Ezra Taft Benson
QUOTE OF THE DAY
Ezra Taft Benson

"Why did God put the first commandment first? Because He knew that if we truly loved Him we would want to keep all of His other commandments" (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Ezra Taft Benson, p. 39-40).

My Father Taught Me
SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
Enos 1:1

"Behold, it came to pass that I, Enos, knowing my father that he was a just man---for he taught me in his language, and also in the nurture and admonition of the Lord---and blessed be the name of my God for it."

Harold B. Lee
QUOTE OF THE DAY
Harold B. Lee

"Nurture means the process of moral training and discipline. 'My father taught me and disciplined me in moral training.' What does admonition mean? It means gentle or friendly reproof, warnings or reminders. Blessed be the name of God for the father and mother that teach in the nurture and admonition of the Lord!" (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Harold B. Lee, p. 123).
Judgment
SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
Doctrine & Covenants 64:10-11

"I, the Lord, will forgive whom I will forgive, but of you it is required to forgive all men.  And ye ought to say in your hearts---let God judge between me and thee, and reward thee according to thy deeds."

Spencer W. Kimball
QUOTE OF THE DAY
Spencer W. Kimball

"The Lord will judge with the same measurements meted out by us. If we are harsh, we should not expect other than harshness. If we are merciful with those who injure us, he will be merciful with us in our errors. If we are unforgiving, he will leave us weltering in our own sins" (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Spencer W. Kimball, p. 95).

No Soul Will Be Neglected
SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
Doctrine & Covenants 128:5

"You may think this order of things to be very particular; but let me tell you that it is only to answer the will of God, by conforming to the ordinance and preparation that the Lord ordained and prepared before the foundation of the world, for the salvation of the dead who should die without a knowledge of the gospel."

QUOTE OF THE DAY
Joseph Fielding Smith

"The Lord has said through his servants that during the Millennium those who have passed beyond and have attained the resurrection will reveal in person to those who are still in mortality all the information which is required to complete the work of these who have passed from this life. Then the dead will have the privilege of making known the things they desire and are entitled to receive. In this way no soul will be neglected and the work of the Lord will be perfected" (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Joseph Fielding Smith, p. 330).
