982. Pres. Monson passes into Eternity! Good thoughts, to help us stay faithful and valiant!
Pres. Monson passed away last night at 10:01 p.m., in Salt Lake City, Utah. Oh, how we loved him! The following bit is from my blog on Dec. 12th, 2017 -- recently.
This is a precious true Christmas story, narrated by our dear President Thomas S. Monson, telling a wonderful thing which was done at Christmas to help some German refugees. This will make you love President Monson even more! He is having some hard days now probably. Pray for him!
You will need to copy and paste this below to watch the short video. It is so inspiring! You can hear President Monson tell the story on the video. Below is the story you can read.

It should be on the top of the videos listed -- called "Christmas Story from On The Lord's Errand."
Hear of how his ward members all came to the rescue, and made it look like this! This is a story to "Light The World"!
I am going back to my hometown, St. George, Utah, for a few days! I will write more when I get back in a few days! Have a wonderful New Year, friends!

Valiant

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
Doctrine & Covenants 115:5-6
"Verily I say unto you all: Arise and shine forth, that thy light may be a standard for the nations; and that the gathering together upon the land of Zion, and upon her stakes, may be for a defense, and for a refuge from the storm, and from wrath when it shall be poured out without mixture upon the whole earth."
|
QUOTE OF THE DAY
Ezra Taft Benson
"If you are to preserve your blessings, it is not enough for you just to be free and independent, to capitalize on your advantages so that they accrue to your well-being and prosperity. You must protect and safeguard the freedom you have. You must be wise and virtuous. You must govern your natures by the doctrines of his kingdom. You must be valiant in your testimony of Christ by keeping all his commandments" ("Prepare Yourselves for the Great Day of the Lord," BYU Devotional, April 14, 1981).

Relying Upon God
|
SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
2 Peter 1:4-11
"Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; and to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; and to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
"For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. . . . For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ."
|
QUOTE OF THE DAY
David O. McKay
"Undoubtedly, somewhere on the scroll that the new year brings, there will be marks of disappointment, discouragement, difficulty, and perhaps sorrow; but we shall try to meet these with unfaltering determination, relying upon God to strengthen us in weakness and to give us fortitude in trial. Thus overcoming what we can, and bearing bravely what we must, we shall experience the joy of mastery akin to that which Jesus felt when he said: '. . . Be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.' (John 16:33)." (Man May Know for Himself, p. 463).

New Year's Goal
|
SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
Mosiah 3:19
"For the natural man is an enemy to God, and has been from the fall of Adam, and will be, forever and ever, unless he yields to the enticings of the Holy Spirit, and putteth off the natural man and becometh a saint through the atonement of Christ the Lord, and becometh as a child, submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon him, even as a child doth submit to his father."
|
QUOTE OF THE DAY
Heber J. Grant
"I do not believe that any man lives up to his ideals, but if we are striving, if we are working, if we are trying, to the best of our ability, to improve day by day, then we are in the line of our duty. If we are seeking to remedy our own defects, if we are so living that we can ask God for light, for knowledge, for intelligence, and above all for His Spirit, that we may overcome our weaknesses, then, I can tell you, we are in the straight and narrow path that leads to life eternal; then we need have no fear" (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Heber J. Grant, p. 31).

Faithful to the Truth
|
SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
2 Timothy 1:7-8
"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God."
|
QUOTE OF THE DAY
Joseph F. Smith
"Let the spirit of this gospel be so imbedded in my soul that though I go through poverty, through tribulation, through persecution, or to death, let me and my house serve God and keep his laws. However, the promise is that you shall be blessed through obedience.
"God will honor those who honor him, and will remember those who remember him. He will uphold and sustain all those who sustain truth and are faithful to it. God help us, therefore, to be faithful to the truth, now and forever" (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Joseph F. Smith, p. 109).
