1087. Thankful Thoughts, from Latter Day Light for Thanksgiving, 2018!

We had a neighborhood Family Home Evening last night.  Our friend who was the teacher talked about thankfulness, and had great questions for each of us to answer.  These beautiful thoughts will help you realize again how blessed we are!  The picture below was taken at our Golden Wedding, in September 2005.  We've added quite a few new family members since then!  These in the picture, and all the new ones are what I am most grateful for!

Source of All Our Blessings

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY
Doctrine & Covenants 78:18-19
"And ye cannot bear all things now; nevertheless, be of good cheer, for I will lead you along. The kingdom is yours and the blessings thereof are yours, and the riches of eternity are yours.  And he who receiveth all things with thankfulness shall be made glorious; and the things of this earth shall be added unto him, even an hundred fold, yea, more."

QUOTE OF THE DAY
John Taylor

"Do we not talk of building cities and of making beautiful habitations, gardens and orchards, and placing ourselves in such a position that we and our families can enjoy the blessings of life? Of course we do. God has given us the land and all the necessary elements for this purpose, and he has given us intelligence to use them.

"But the great thing he has had in view is, that whilst we use the intelligence that he gives us for the accomplishment of the various objects that are desirable for our well being and happiness, we should not forget him who is the source of all our blessings, whether pertaining to the present or the future" (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: John Taylor, p. 176).

Spirit Guides Us

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY

Mosiah 2:36
"And now, I say unto you, my brethren, that after ye have known and have been taught all these things, if ye should transgress and go contrary to that which has been spoken, that ye do withdraw yourselves from the Spirit of the Lord, that it may have no place in you to guide you in wisdom's paths that ye may be blessed, prospered, and preserved---."

QUOTE OF THE DAY
David O. McKay

"I am trying to emphasize that each one is the architect of his own fate, and he is unfortunate, indeed, who will try to build himself without the inspiration of God, without realizing that he grows from within, not from without" (The Teachings of David O. McKay, p.  189).
