2057; March 22, 2026. Elder Causee, playing the piano!




For all who may be interested in our new apostle........

He is a concert pianist!  I don't know how to put a link here, but

if you look on YouTube, and put in his name, you'll find several

songs where he is playing the piano in a duet.  Apparently they have

made a recording!

Since I first began this, it is now March 22, 2026, and tomorrow my son Wayne will be in charge of the Family Home Evenig here at the Fairfield Assisted Living.

He will be playig the accordion, and his grandson Spencer, son of his son Joshua and his wife Tiffany, also will play the accordion,  Wayne has taught his grandson Spencer to  play the accordion for 4 years, and he has learned well!  Also his wife Julie, and daughter Emily, will each play the violin, Sadie, granddaughter, will play the cello, and daughter Melissa (Missy) will play the flute.  I won't be playing with them, but there is a nice flyer up here, showing him playing his accordion.  I can't remember how to add pictures onto my blogs!

Many years ago I had the opportunity and blessing to meet President David O. McKay in person.  I wish I could remember it more clearly.  The first time was with a Seminary class while I was in high school.  Growing up in St. George during that time, we didn't get to Salt Lake City often, and each spring the Seminary students took a trip up, and toured the Church Office building, and saw the Tabernacle, Salt Lake Temple, and other interesting places there.  The tall Church Office  building wasn't built for many years after.  I remember what a gracious and polite gentleman he was.  Around this same time, Wayne was on a mission in Sweden, and the highlight of his mission was having Pres. 681. The Election Day Fight, 178 years ago today, with my 2nd great grandfather John Lowe Butler, bodyguard to the Prophet Joseph Smith.

It was 178 years ago when the "Election Day" fight happened in Gallatin, Missouri.  The Brother John Butler, mentioned in the history below, was my 2nd great grandfather on my mother's line.   Read to the bottom, and I have included an entry about him I posted on January 14, 2014.  He was a bodyguard to the Prophet Joseph Smith, and quite a colorful character!  His wife, Caroline Farozine Skeen Butler also was a true pioneer woman.  In the  "labels" you can find more stories about them. 164. My great-grandparents, Haden Wells Church and Sarah Ann Arterberry, many missions, and pioneers to St. George.

I wrote about my great-grandfather Haden Wells Church in blog # 23, last December 3, 2013. That was about the day the original pioneers arrived in St. George, Utah, and he was among their number.  In that blog there is a very brief history of his life.  In this entry, I will tell more details.  He was a great pioneer, and went on 5 missions, the last of which was in Tennessee, where he died of typhoid fever, and was buried next to his father, in his home town of Shady Grove, Tennessee. Haden was a member of the Mormon Battalion, and this story begins with their arrival back in the Salt Lake Valley on July 27 or 29th, right after the very first company arrived with Brigham Young, when he said "This is the place!"  The battalion members were listed as being mustered-out of the army on July 16th since their year's enlistment ended on that date.       Little is known of Sarah Ann and her baby, Hyrum , before they were reunited.
