11. IT IS WHAT IT IS, AND WE'LL DEAL WITH IT!

Image
Today, in considering what I'd like to write about, I found this paper I had written on October 4, 2011, two days before I turned 77.  I believe I wrote it for my grandchildren.                                 About Life:    'IT IS WHAT IT IS, AND WE'LL DEAL WITH IT!' Money isn't the most important thing in life -- people are .  Use money for wise things.  Live within the money you have and save for emergencies. Thank people who have helped you.  Be appreciative and grateful for parents, family, friends. Spend time with your family whenever you can, as those days will be gone soon.  Remember family birthdays, Father's and Mother's day, etc.  -- Call or visit, write, also grandparents -- and friends.  If they forget your birthday, etc., call them -- don't brood over it, feeling sorry and resentful. Don't hold grudges -- and when a person has truly chan...

10. (1.) Wayne, hospitals, ICU, blessings, Miracles (first version)

------- I thought I had lost this story about Wayne this morning !  When I went to post the other one, I found the draft I though I had lost.  So I guess I'll put them both on, and you can read one or the other.  They are similar. (Started early this morning, Thurs. Nov, 21, 2013) Last night I decided to write today about Wayne, and the miracle that he is still alive.  When the two twins were born at home one month early, and weighed around 4 pounds each, they were not expected to live through the night.  They were given a Priesthood blessing at that time and promised they would live a mature life, and fill their missions in life.   His beloved twin brother Blaine passed away at age 68 of what they considered to be an aortic anurism. (Probably spelled wrong -- hemorhage of the abdominal aorta .). Wayne's health problems began when he developed diverticulitis at around age 60, and was in the hospital a day or two.  Since then he has taken Fibe...

9. ( 2.) Wayne, hospitals, ICU, Blessings and Miracles

Wayne has been the recipient of many blessings, ever since he was born.  The night Wayne and Blaine were born, each weighing about 4 pounds, they were not expected to live.  They were immediately given a name and a Priesthood blessing, and in the blessing they were promised they would live a mature life, and fill their missions in life.  When Wayne received his Patriarchal blessing, the Patriarch, who didn't know him, stated that he was living today because of the power of the Priesthood.  When he was about 60, he was in the hospital for diverticulitus, but recovered with heavy antibiotics.    Blaine filled his mission in life at age 68, and at age 69, Wayne had a his greatest health crisis.     We had been in Connecticut on a Portuguese speaking mission, and came home in March 2000, early to help my sister Mavis, who was in the middle of a severe chemo series for colon cancer.  (She is still alive thankfully!)  After being with her ...

8. I'd love your comments !

I'd love to hear your comments about what I write.  If you'd like to e mail me, notice on the right where it gives a short bio and my small picture, and at the bottom it says:  "View my complete Profile".  You can click on that, and it says how to contact me (by e mail I think).  I don't know how the "comment" thing works at the bottom of each entry -- If you know, you can do it!  Love to all for a happy day!

7. Thanksgivings past, and "The Suet Pudding Story"

Image
Thanksgivings past, and "The Suet Pudding Story" My father, Orson Pratt Miles, (no relation to Orson Pratt of early Church history.) had problems with eating, after World War I, and couldn't eat spicy or rich food, often eating food like baby food.  After the War his nerves and stomach.were very bad.  He said he had been poisoned by German sauerkraut while in the War.     But we did have good food, with the trimmings on Thanksgiving.  Often he would invite some lonely person to Thanksgiving Dinner.  That has become a family tradition that we have tried to follow, (but not as well as he did!)  Often we had our mother Ruth's sister and her husband, Adelia and Earnest Tobler, plus Ruth's mother Levinah, to dinner, and we children would usually go to an afternoon "matinee".  Movies in those days were all "G" and usually on Thanksgiving, and often on Christmas, that was the afternoon entertainment for the children.  I still don't feel the tr...

6. "They are closing my book"

"They are closing my book" --  by Ruth Allen Miles. Today is a story from my mother's journal -- on pages 246-248 in the book of my ancestor's lives.  It is one of my very favorite stories of her life!--- "Two main tragedies happened during my last year at Dixie, both involving my mother, (Levinah Emeline Wilson Allen).  Just before Thanksgiving mother (Levinah) was alone and either fell or perhaps fainted and fell between the stove and the wall.  (Remember this was a coal stove.)  On the stove was a pot of boiling beans which tipped over and dripped over her, burning her badly, particularly around the breast area of her body.  Oh, the agony she went through with this! She was still under treatment and wearing bandages for this when in March she was going to Panguitch with some Temple workers and a newly returned missionary who had come to St. George to visit his sister.  They were in a wreck and mother was the sole survivor .   With a broke...
