499. Wayne's 85th birthday! And about the LDS video which offers direction for children against becoming addicted to pornography.

First of all, I want to tell all our readers that today is my husband Wayne's 85th birthday!  It also is the birthday of his identical twin, Blaine, who passed away over 16 years ago.  There are many blogs which tell about them.  If you are interested, you can check blogs # 491 on August 29, 2015, # 233 on September 18, 2014, and # 109 on March 1, 2014.   There are others, but these, plus the recent brief history of our lives on # 493, give a general idea about his eventful and amazing life!  He has been to radiation this morning, and will go to dialysis this afternoon, but he does this with cheerfulness and optimism.  He plans to take "Creamies", an ice cream treat to everyone at dialysis this afternoon!   This article below is appropriate for the times.  Tomorrow, in St. George, at the Dixie Center is "Protecting Children and Families from Pornography", by the Utah Coalition Against Pornography -- UCAP 'What Should I Do When I See P...

498. Is The Holy Ghost Always With You? by Joni Hilton, in Meridian Magazine

Image
This is a really thoughtful article, giving counsel on controlling our very thoughts, so we can have the Spirit of the Holy Ghost always guiding us. Is the Holy Ghost Always with You? By Joni Hilton  · September 16, 2015 What a blessing we have, when given the Gift of the Holy Ghost. Though he can inspire and enlighten anyone (which is how testimonies are gained), once we’re baptized and have been given this incredible gift by the laying on of hands, we have the most amazing promise: He can be our constant companion. Of course, as we all know, the only thing that can obstruct this phenomenal partnership is ourselves. Through disobedience and unrighteousness, we can drive him away. And many of us picture this as willfully breaking commandments and doing things that would make the Holy Ghost uncomfortable in our company—should we steal, lie, take drugs, go to a strip joint– the obvious stuff. But many of us who live life in the mainstream of the church ( se...

497. Great ideas from Latter Day Light (Latter Day Devotion) which you'll enjoy!

I really enjoy reading Latter Day Devotion each day.  It is printed every day of the year.    You can have it come to your e mail by going to:   www. latterdaylight.com     You can sign up to receive it each day.  I enjoy the scriptures and quotes of the Prophets.   Also each day is a list of significant happenings in Church History that occurred on that day, and  the year.   It helps you keep remembering the history of the Church in the past, which Is so interesting! I have saved a few recently, which were particularly appropriate, I thought.  Also I included the the history part for today, September 15, 2015.  Secret to a Happy Life Nauvoo, Illinois September 5, 2015 SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY : Matthew 16:24-25 " Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any  man  will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and...

496. Our 60th Wedding Anniversary Party last Saturday, Sept. 5th, 2015.

Image
Just a week ago today, we were honored by our family, about our 60th Wedding Anniversary, which will officially be on September 24th.  We were married Sept. 24, 1955, in the St. George Temple.  This post tells some about the celebration on Sept. 5, 2015, last weekend, on the Labor Day weekend when all could come.  Most of the following is from an e mail I sent to family and friends, together with an update on my husband Wayne's health.  From left to right, Wayne M., Delsy, Anita, Allen, McKay, Pal, Wayne, Angie, Tacy, Pam, and Jeremy.  We are wearing the shirts they gave us 10 years ago on our Golden Wedding.  They have a picture of us when we were married and the inscription: September 24th 1955-2005, and also "The world is ours, we have each other".  That last phrase is from a song that Delsy and I wrote almost 40 years ago, when we lived in Sandy.  This is our "family song", in SATB.  If any of you would like a copy, I have a PDF ...
