I was invited to join a group called 40 Days and 40 nights General Conference Challenge.  It is to watch (or read) one General Conference talk for the next 40 days.  I have already listened to Elder Uchdorf's talk, which opened the Conference on Saturday morning.  It is always more impressive when we listen for the 2nd or 3rd time.  This link below sends you to the site where you can watch him giving the talk.  He emphasizes words which make it more meaningful!.  If you want to take that challenge I will try to post each link each day for the next 40 days.  During that time I will be traveling some, and also have a foot operation, so I hope I can keep it up! https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2017/10/a-yearning-for-home? lang=eng You'll have to copy and paste that link, but it is just so wonderful! Along with this link above, I included a delightful thing I found on Facebook: 90-Year-Old Czech Grandma Turns Small Village Into Her Ar...

Do we have a "sound mind"?  This article has so much wisdom.  Recently I read a statement by Dr. Fred Rogers, the author of the well-known TV children's program.  He said that his mother taught him when there was tragedy to "look for the helpers" when he was a child.  That gives us hope and encouragement as we live in a difficult world.  There were many helpers in Las Vegas. Even if you weren’t in Las Vegas on Sunday night, chances are you’ve wondered what you would have done, wondered if something like this might ever happen to you, and wondered how something like this could even happen. The emotional shock of something this awful can leave us f...

929. Good thoughts, to help us see the good in the world!. From Latter Day Light.

Not minimizing the tragedy in Las Vegas, these beautiful thoughts will lift your day, and help us "see the good in the world", as the motto for BYU-TV. October 3, 2017 Service SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY Doctrine & Covenants 6:33-34 "Fear not to do good, my sons, for whatsoever ye sow, that shall ye also reap; therefore, if ye sow good ye shall also reap good for your reward. Therefore, fear not, little flock; do good; let earth and hell combine against you, for if ye are built upon my rock, they cannot prevail . " QUOTE OF THE DAY Heber J. Grant "One can never tell what will be the result of faithful service rendered, nor do we know when it will come back to us or to those with whom we are associated. The reward may not come at the time, but in dividends later. I believe we will never lose anything in life by giving service, by making sacrifices, and doing the right thing" ( Teachings of Presid...

928. When I Heard My Deceased Daughter's Voice: The Profound Lesson She Shared

Image
This is a heart touching story, and seems appropriate after the tragedy that happened in Las Vegas last night , were one man from a room in a high rise hotel shot and killed 59 people, and injured around 500 more.  There are many stories going around about it, and the truth hasn't come out yet, about many aspects of the story.  My heart felt love and empathy go out to all affected by it. When I Heard My Deceased Daughter's Voice: The Profound Lesson She Shared by Bryan Young  | Sep. 02, 2017 Makes You Think Mormon Life The Lord has offered my family and me many tender mercies of spiritual communication that not all people will receive. However, I also know that the spirits of our loved ones are closer than we often times know, no matter who we are. In May of 2012, my daughter Holland was diagnosed with a brain tumor, shortly after her third birthday. The 14 months that followed were a roller coaster of hospital stays, brain surgeri...
