943. The men in our family who are or have been veterans! We are proud of their service.

I am recuperating from a foot operation, so in honor of Veteran's Day I will mostly post photos in this entry, of my husband Wayne and his twin brother Blaine when they were in the army in 1953 to 1955 during the Korean war time, but were in Europe ; my father Orson Pratt Miles who was in World War I, and our son Allen, who was in the Air Force 6 years, and served during Desert Storm as a navigator in a refueling airplane. Wayne in Austria, 1954, with a young son of the Mission President there. Wayne's official Army portrait! And photos above of his army life. Wayne and Blaine with a friend, in California at Fort Ord, in basic training.  When they got home from their missions in Sweden, their draft papers were waiting! Blaine's official Army portrait. 942. The most alarming thing I have read! Revolting and disgusting! What is happening to our freedoms? from Meridian Magazine

Image
This is the most alarming thing I've read yet!  What is happening to our America and our world?  It is truly the "last days" of freedom and peace -- it seems!  What some people are doing because they feel "unsafe or offended!" “Not Welcome Here”: Alexandria’s Christ Church Bans George Washington; Oxford University Fair Bans Christianity By Maurine Proctor  · November 5, 2017 Sign up for Meridian’s Free Newsletter, please  CLICK HERE Two events in the last weeks seem oddly and unfortunately related and signal a world that is being undone from the foundations up because someone yells, “I feel unsafe.” This is not because someone is actually particularly unsafe, but because this has become a potent tool for the offended. “All are welcome—no exceptions” reads a sign on Christ Church in Alexandria, Virginia, but the congregation doesn’t really mean it. Somebody very specifically is not welcome here any more—our first U.S. president. This ...

941. My adventures, escapades, and visits in the last 2 weeks!

Well, I'm back!  After a very fun, exciting, and memorable time!    I have been home for just over 3 days, and been busy catching up on my Family History Mission, (a V-ROC mission -- Virtual Records Operations Center mission -- at home on my own computer).  I committed to a minimum of 8 hours a week, and the week before I left on October 23, I did over 16 hours, to make up for the week I would be gone, and then I needed to do my 8 hours for this week! My son Wayne, and his wife Julie and I left the Monday morning of October 23, at precisely 15 to 8 a.m.  (Wayne has this thing about time -- he likes to plan ahead, and be precise about times!  It's helped keep Julie and me on our toes!)  We arrived at the Gold Coast Hotel in Las Vegas that evening in time for a lovely dinner and concert provided by the Accordion Convention.  The first night Pat Debenham came and sat at our table, and from then on he was our fast friend, always sitting at our ta...

940. Beautiful Thoughts for the next few days! I'll be gone until November 1st.

I just had a wonderful Sabbath Day!  At the early meeting I played for my son and his wife, Wayne and Julie, and his son Josh and wife Tiffany, and their 5 children from age 8 down to 10 months, who sang "Choose The Right" in Josh's ward.  Then I played for my granddaughter Skye to sing "His Hands" in her ward, and after finishing up at my ward here, I went to Ogden with my grandson Sam to his mom Anita's house for her son David's birthday dinner and celebration!  We played games with the family! It has been a wonderful day with family! In the morning, off to Las Vegas with Wayne and Julie, and to an Accordion Convention!  Lots of rhythm and music!  And visiting with my son and my sister a few days.  I am so blessed, and happy!
