823. A year ago tonight was Wayne's last night alive on this earth. Many memories and pictures.

Image
A year ago today was Wayne's last day on earth.   I've decided to include part of something I had written not long after Wayne passed away.  It tells of his last hours --   I hope it isn't too personal, but it tells a lot about him, and his stamina and faith.  I'm not going to label the pictures.  I think you know who they are! Tonight is a sentimental time -- one year ago tonight at this time, we were very concerned about Wayne.  He had gone on Hospice the day before, and they had brought a wheel chair and also a walker.  He started using the walker then, but only a year ago today, which was a Saturday, he wanted to be taken from the front room to the bedroom in a wheelchair.  He was getting weaker.  He had dialysis on Friday, which always weakened him.  He had been told months ago that when he felt he couldn't live through any more he could just stop dialysis, and he would go to sleep soon, and not wake up.  But he love...

822. Fun memories, telling of many of Wayne's idiosyncrasies -- as we called them! Sayings he would say all the time!

We have 2 pages in our Life Story Book, which tell of Wayne's idiosyncrasies!  (funny sayings and quirks!)  Here they are:  (Another picture of Wayne and Blaine below.) You’ve got rocks in your head!  It’ll feel better when it quits hurting.  You little twirp!  (To a child) Or he would call someone “Screwball “, often.  Saying “Whose girl are you?” (To little boys) and “Whose boy are you?” (To little girls)  Tickling, and saying “I’m going to find a pa-diddle-de-dee!”  (He got that from his father)  When he owed someone money “I’d rather owe it to you than cheat you out of it.” When someone says “How are you?”  He says “I’m a kickin’–about this that and the other”     (From his father also.)  If you had another brain, it’d be lonesome.  Things are tough all over.      Taking the scenic route–(trying to take a short-cut, and taking the long way–for instance when the family we...

821. My dear husband Wayne, and some of his last health challenges -- for about 10 months he had it quite difficult.

Image
I haven't written for a few days.  I had the chance to ride down to the lower part of Arizona and visit Blaine's wife, Joyce.  She is a beloved sister-in-law I haven't seen for many years. Wayne's major last health problems began in 2015.  This photo is of Wayne and me on our mission to Sweden, and sister Inge Britt Soderstrom, who had rickets badly as a child.  It left her very crippled, but she had such a sense of humor, and beautiful spirit!   --------------------------------------- This was posted on Feb. 17, 2015, 2 years ago - My husband, Wayne D Eckman, see blog #233 on Sept. 18, 2014, and blog # 109, Mar. 1, 2014 to see pictures of him and his twin brother Blaine, and more.   He absolutely loves the Book of Mormon,  and today I'm going over to see him in the Intensive Care Unit of the St. George Hospital.  He has had problems with his lungs, kidneys and a blood clot, etc.  He is improving, but last night he asked me to ...

820. "All these days that came and went, I didn't know that it was life!" Swedish wall hanging!

Image
I posted this first on January 15, 2016, just over  a month  before Wayne passed away.  It has  some interesting thing  in it.  Today is  February 15, 2017, and I am going down in the morning with our daughter Anita and her  husband Reed, and other family members,  and we will visit Joyce, Wayne's  twin brother  Blaine's wife.  She doesn't know we all are coming--so if any of you down there read this,  don't tell  her and let her be surprised!   I won't be able to post for a  couple of days.   I'll be on a 10 hour ride down on Thursday,  and a 10 hour ride back on Friday! FRIDAY, JANUARY 15, 2016 578. "All these days that came and went, I didn't know that it was life!" Swedish wall hanging -- we received in Sweden! Also family pictures, and news. It is after 10:30 p.m. on January 14th, and for some strange reason, I...

819. Happy Valentine's Day, with couple and wedding pictures from the family!

Image
This was first posted in 2014, and again in 2015.  Since then we have added more family weddings!  My first Valentine's Day without Wayne I have had the roses below plugged in, as they light up pretty! HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY, ALL!   Wayne and I have had a tradition for many years on Valentine's Day, and on our Wedding Anniversary -- Wayne is so thoughtful and always gives me a gift that has a feminine flair!   The little tradition involves something Wayne found years ago, and between special days, it has a spot in our storage cabinet.    He gets up earlier than I do, and has it all set up and lighted!   A fun TRADITION ! !  Anita took pictures of it. We tried a black background, and a white one, so I'll put both on.  As you can see, it has a cord, and when plugged in, the roses have a light inside!  A simple thing, but it is a  TRADITION! ! These photos below are not in any particular order!  Us, our parents, a...
